About this listen

From bestselling author M. R. Carey comes a brilliant genre-defying story of humanity's expansion across millions of dimensions—and the AI technology that might see it all come to an end. Perfect for fans of The Space Between Worlds and Adrian Tchaikovsky.

INFINITY IS ONLY THE BEGINNING.

The Pandominion: a political and trading alliance of a million worlds–except that they’re really just the one world, Earth, in many different realities. And when an AI threat arises that could destroy everything the Pandominion has built, they'll eradicate it by whatever means necessary, no matter the cost to human life.

Scientist Hadiz Tambuwal is looking for a solution to her own Earth’s environmental collapse when she stumbles across the secret of inter-dimensional travel. It could save everyone on her dying planet, but now she’s walked into the middle of a war on a scale she never dreamed of.

And she needs to choose a side before it kills her.

Critic reviews

"This audiobook is nothing short of outstanding."—AudioFile (Starred Review)

"Infinity Gate is a powerful exploration of the near-future, skillfully and seamlessly weaving different realities and different iterations of AI. In other hands, this might be messy, but Carey has the experience, imagination and verve to pull it off. A must-read!”—Tade Thompson, author of Rosewater

Great listen! Just finished and already miss the characters. And the gorgeous voice of the skilled narrator Dami Okukoya. I am tempted to just restart it. Please please let there be a sequel.

Loved it!

This book is spectacular and so very far reaching. This is definitely not a typical book about AI. The author considers ALL of the possibilities, and it is so wonderful to go along with him in this journey. I honestly cannot wait for the follow up book.

The performance is about 80% perfect. I just felt that some of the voices of the bureaucrats in the pandemonium were a little hokey, and kind of took me out of the story every once in a while. But this was a very small detriment, in an otherwise incredible story.

Mike has done it again!

What does it mean to be human - can humans see the humanity in AI and vice versa? Very interesting parallel universes story.

Another great story by MR Carey

Just wow...I can't wait for the next book in this series. MR Carey creates such vivid worlds with unforgettable characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the narrator as well. possibly the best performance I've listened to this year.

This Author Never Disappoints

the story itself would be pretty interesting if it weren't for the constant glaring logical contradictions. but the narration is so bad that it's honestly hard to listen to. I've had classmates in Middle School do a better job of reading out loud then this narrator. to say that she's reading out loud and not actually performing is honestly being really generous. I don't understand how this was allowed to be released in its current state

the worst reading I have ever heard on audible

In-place multidimensionality. Selves. Interpersonal inside epic. Fertile foundation for … not sure, but now I want to continue the story to find out!

Imaginative, enticing, promising

I really enjoyed this book and I will continue the series. What I wish had happened was that the author left the stories of the different characters more connected, such as to avoid making you think that you were starting a new book in the middle of the reading.
But I do admit at the end it all does tie together not as neatly as I would hope, but still very much to make a satisfying and to have me keep reading. Looking forward to seeing what happens next in this journey.

Great story but needed tighter construction

I thought this book would be one of those “impossible to not be interesting” types. But it turned into just a really stupid action adventure with furries. Probably won’t be picking up book 2. YAWN. PASS.

Basically it’s Multiverse with a bunch of furries

Space Opera at its best, full of original explorations of empires, AI, personhood, slavery, xenophobia, beurocracy, climate change, military culture, friendship, and interdimensional travel. I'm not a fan of the "many worlds" interpretation of quantum mechanics in reality. But I'm sold on MR Carey's fictional take - more, please! - and soon!

Love this book

Wow. This was a great story and ended far too soon. I can’t wait for and/or hope there’s a continuation.
