About this listen

It is the smallest of anomalies. A tiny error lurking in Bob Ludlow’s DNA that could have untold consequences for civilization. Dr. Barry Gifford hopes that understanding this genetic error could provide revolutionary advances for humanity.

Bob believes in Barry and his vision for the future. The two men team up to solve the mystery of Bob’s genetics and to develop a drug based on this inborn error. Unfortunately, in the cutthroat world of medical research, altruism doesn’t always take precedence over money or ego.

Dr. Dexter Brunswick, a bitter man with a tough past, is strangely jealous of Barry’s accomplishments. Yet he needs Barry’s research to unlock the treasures hidden in Bob’s genetic code. Unlike Barry’s noble intentions, Brunswick’s plans are more sinister.

Detective Kevin O’Brien suspects that Dr. Brunswick has committed past murders and has singled out Barry as his next target. Kevin begins following Barry as Brunswick directs his mercenaries to force both Bob and Barry to comply with his plan. He is intent on not only destroying Barry’s medical career but making society pay for the indignities he has suffered.

Inborn error could mean so many things

If your Robin Cook fan than this book is for you. Three brothers seperated at birth with inborn errors that was not discovered until later in life. This book is more than medical thriller it goes in espionage, murder and science fiction. A lot of medical jargon about DNA xy and xx chromosomes. A lot of twists and turns, I feel like the story just ended without an ending.
The narrator David Bosco did an excellent job on this book and the many different voices.

Phenomenal medical thriller

Inborn Error is a medical thriller full of suspense that will keep you riding on a rollercoaster till the of with all the twists and turns. When I thought I had it all figured out bam I had it all wrong. The storyline is complex with murder and a little espionage wrapped in a well written creative book. I received this audio book at my request. I am leaving my honest review here voluntarily of my own volition.

A Genetic War

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I was enthralled by this book right from the beginning. The fate of triplets was decided with their first breath that catapulted them into lives so different that the mere chance of reuniting was a miracle in itself. The upbringing of the three brothers plays an important role in their psychic development. Their genius is apparent as are the physical differences within them. A quirk of nature creates genetic differences within brothers that is at the heart of this medical thriller. The twists and turns of events are quite complex and for most of us the medical jargon might be a little too complex, but it's a tribute to the intensive research that went behind the creation of this fascinating book.
The narration was excellent, a fact that we have learned to appreciate from the talented David Bosco.
An audiobook I definitely recommend.

Unique, mindbending, and complex.

Unique and a little mindbending, this was a complex story with a host of multi-faceted characters. While it was necessary to explain intricate genetics concepts, the scientific jargon was slightly overwhelming. I enjoyed the history of the character's childhoods and the major twist that genuinely surprised me at the end. David Bosco gave a pleasant, professional narration which enhanced the story and the character's emotions. Overall a good read!

Great Thriller

If you want to listen to only one medical thriller this year listen to this. It has great character development and narration. It follow 3 brothers, Dexter, Bob and Kevin all separate at birth into their adulthood. There are twists and turns in this thriller and can tell it was written by a doctor. My favorite characters were Bob, Dr. Barry Gilford and Kevin. Highly recommend this new medical thriller by new author, he up there with Michael Palmer. Love thrillers like this

I love books where I THINK I know what twist is coming, but the author surprises me anyway. This is one of those awesome books. I found the story easy to follow, and one of those books that made me wish I had a longer commute, and wishing for me traffic!

Narrator David Bosco was especially entertaining, making the voices distinctive. I want to check out what else this author has written in the hopes of discovering some other great thrillers. Highly recommended if you're seeking a modern day Robin Cook.

Super medical thriller

I got right into this story as soon as I started listening. Although it got a little medically technical at times with the DNA and such, I felt he did well to explain so medically challenged people like myself can understand. The twist and turns to the storyline definitely kept me interested. David Bosco, as always, was fantastic and perfect for this sort of book. Nurture vs Nature? What’s the true connection?

We start the book being introduced to the three main characters- triplets born to a mother who dies in childbirth and a father who is unable to tolerate anything imperfect. The two boys (Dexter and Kevin) with obvious abnormalities are sent to orphanages, the other (Bob) is taken home by the father. All are raised separately yet, due to the devious plans of Dexter, their lives become intermingled.
I did not find the twists in the plot unexpected. They were actually well laid out. It was a little uncomfortable for me that the detective did not play a greater role (he was supposed to be watching Dr. Barry). As a result there is a bit of vigilante stuff and convenient circumstances. There is a reveal at the end, and the ending was a tad abrupt, but at least it was not drawn out.

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would listen to another. I enjoyed the story. The medical explanations were very detailed and interesting but I could see that being a bit overwhelming for some people.

This is the third book I’ve listened to by this narrator and I would listen to another. He does an excellent job using different voices for each character and brings the characters to life.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.
