I'm a huge baseball nut, and these stories had me hooked from the get-go. I loved learning about the badass women who broke barriers in the sport, and some of the wild superstitions players have. It's not all sunshine and rainbows though - the book doesn't shy away from the darker parts of baseball history. But that just made it feel more real to me. If you're into baseball at all, you'll dig this. It's like sitting at a bar swapping stories with other fans.

This book is grat entertainment. Talked about all the greats I remember from watching the World Series with my father as a child. It was very engaging to get a behind the scenes view of how the players and coaches think, a lot of the history of the game and some great highlights. Having a grandson who currently loves to play baseball, I was trying to explain Mickey Mantle of the New York Yankees to him and he had no idea who that legend was, which made me chuckle. I have to get this audiobook for him, not just for the history but for the feeling of actually being there. Grab this book.

Baseball memories I never had.

Perfect read during rain delays at my son's games! Each story captured something unique about baseball that reminded me why I fell in love with it as a kid. The one about the minor league pitcher brought me back to my college playing days. I actually teared up during the father-son story (don't tell my buddies). Read the whole thing in just two sittings - couldn't put it down. Now my 12-year-old is reading it and asking questions about baseball history. Worth every penny for any true fan.
