About this listen

NATIONAL BESTSELLER • The gripping new Jack Reacher thriller from the bestselling authors Lee Child and Andrew Child

Reacher had no idea where he was. No idea how he had gotten there. But someone must have brought him. And shackled him. And whoever had done those things was going to rue the day. That was for damn sure.

Jack Reacher wakes up alone, in the dark, handcuffed to a makeshift bed. His right arm has suffered some major damage. His few possessions are gone. He has no memory of getting there.

The last thing Reacher can recall is the car he hitched a ride in getting run off the road. The driver was killed.

His captors assume Reacher was the driver’s accomplice and patch up his wounds as they plan to make him talk.

A plan that will backfire spectacularly . . .

The usual reacher… But that’s a good thing!

I really like this story was much more complex than it could have been. I was thinking it was a little bit at the beginning, but turned out to be extremely intricate and great!

Middle of the road

I think the Reacher series are my most re-listened audiobooks, I love the character developments and storylines.
However, this one is to me mediocre at best. Not as captivating, not so much inter-character development, a bit cliche use of Reacher's character traits.
I cannot shake the feeling that Lee Child has moved to an arm's length role in writing the story, and that all heavy lifting was done by Andrew child, who is not there (yet), i.m.o.
And yes, I miss Dick Hill as well, but I really appreciate Scott Brick's work from when I first encoutered him voicing Scott Card's Ender series, and I think the story needs to be alive to bring it alive and that is lacking a bit in this case.
Not a waste of credit at all, but not (yet) meeting the high standard of the series.

Not as exciting as past books

I don’t remember so much ‘guessing the future’ in past books. The FBI giving death predictions seemed a little far fetched.

The amount of people killed. And where did they get the money to travel

The story was very complicated and there was too much arguing between the thieves who were supposed to be smart.

Still waiting for a good Reacher story

I’m so sad that Dick Hill passed. He was Reacher. I’m so sad that Lee isn’t more involved in the writing

I love the narrative, style and pronunciation 😊😊

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to listen to the story in long increments; I lost momentum and didn’t get excited to pick it back up.

in to deep

Loved every word can't wait till the next book. Don't know why people say they're not going to read Ellie Childs Andrew child's book again.

Too much gore

Not a fun read. Done with reacher.
Since Lee teamed up not he same. I’ll pass on the next one.

You will see the end coming

As usual, the action was nonstop. I enjoyed the book. However, clues that reacher discovered were also apparent to the reader. Even before reacher recognized, they were glued. Saddest of all I knew the bad guy long before reacher figured it out. I am not used to happenin a Lee Childs book.

Good plot

Characters are a little under developed. A lot more sleuth work to uncover the plot would have been nice. More reacher kicking ass
