About this listen
A CHOSEN ONE WHO DOESN’T KNOW IT
Vidarr Allefar is an outcast, a misfit. Freed from prison and driven by horrific visions of his kins' deaths, he violates his Order’s protocols and heads out to Asken de Gulles.
Vidarr’s magical talents develop further as he and his friends cross the deadliest terrain he’s ever seen. Yet he can’t be certain he will be met with open arms when he returns home, for his egg was sold to humans. Were his parents dead, or was he unwanted?
As they near the isolated village, unexpected news reveals additional threats. Vidarr learns of an evil being in charge of the village and of an enemy force coming to kill his kin.
Will Vidarr defeat the foe Legion? What of the marauding Soolv Spyda clan? And how will he defeat Saleji, the vile leader of his kin’s village?
With the three sisters of Destiny weaving, there’s more to Vidar than he even knows.
A tale steeped in a post-Ragnarök world continues…

Scary-Good Female Narrations
This second installment in the series hits the ground running by the second chapter. The pacing, particularly with the combat scenes are exciting and fast. The battle stratagems were well thought out and kept me guessing as to how things would turn out. Having read hundreds of these kinds of novels, I’m amazed that I can still feel anxious about such things as reading-listening combat, realism being a thing I look for most. Rene is indeed a Dungeons Master of old! As I was with the first book, In Search of Justice, I continue to be fascinated with the main protagonist, Vidarr, a reptilian the author calls a d'oglemann, mostly because a reptilian is the main protagonist. You don’t see that everyday, do you? Rene’s dwarves he calls dvaerges are reminiscent of Tolkien’s dwarves, but that is the appeal if you ask me. And yet, they also feel like Rene’s dwarves. The narrator, Duffy Webber is amazing with his accents, making the dwarves in this book three-dimensional and enjoyable to read-listen. Alongside Vidarr, I want to see more of Rene’s dvaerges. I said it before in previous reviews how scary-good Duffy does female voices. He is a beast!!! Clearly one of the best narrators in the business. Looking forward to the next audiobook in this series.
