What would you do if your whole life was a lie and learning the truth could cost you your life?

From New York Times best-selling author of the Shadow Falls series comes C. C. Hunter’s new YA thriller about a girl who learns that she may have been kidnapped as a child and must race to uncover the truth about her past before she winds up a victim.

Chloe was three years old when she became Chloe Holden, but her adoption didn’t scar her, and she’s had a great life. Now, 14 years later, her loving parents’ marriage has fallen apart, and her mom has moved them to Joyful, Texas. Starting 12th grade as the new kid at school, everything Chloe loved about her life is gone. And feelings of déjà vu from her early childhood start haunting her.

When Chloe meets Cash Colton, she feels drawn to him, as though they're kindred spirits. Until Cash tells her the real reason he sought her out: Chloe looks exactly like the daughter his foster parents lost years ago, and he’s determined to figure out the truth.

As Chloe and Cash delve deeper into her adoption, the more things don’t add up, and the more strange things start happening. Why is Chloe’s adoption a secret that people would kill for?

Very much a teen tv thriller vibe but honestly that’s what hooked me. Further into the book literally had me on my toes till the end, even tho I seen it all coming obviously the details were what I was waiting for lol and then the end of the book(last 7 chapters) had me emotional.. In the best way! Over all definitely knew how the ending was gonna go and I’m not disappointed. Good read and if you’re into thriller happy ending tales I’d recommend this.

Over all I loved the story

I though this book was so heartfelt and very well written I think the author did a fabulous job!

This story had a different little twist to. It was an enjoyable read.
I would recommend.

A little different

This book says again and again that adoptive parents are not real parents. They are. The lack of understanding of this concept mars an otherwise interesting read.

I finished this because I really liked the adoption story…but the liberal messages were just added unnecessarily. The main character, a 17 year old girl, finds her mom abusing sleeping meds. She knows immediately what Ambien is. 🤔 Then subsequently INSISTS for her mother to go get on antidepressants. 🙄 The book includes several mentions of Chloe’s friend’s gay moms. It had nothing to do with the story at all- we never even meet the gay moms. It’s just there so the author can check the “include pro-LGBTQ messaging” box. The love story is “okay.” I liked Cash… probably just because I’m a sucker for a broken boy. But in the end I just didn’t fall in LOVE with him because there weren’t like the sweet moments where you get to know the details of his personality. We just get to know about his past.

You may love it if you’re a liberal
