Lynsay Sands
In a spellbinding new Argeneau novel from New York Times best-selling author Lynsay Sands, a dangerous rescue is just the beginning of red-hot adventure.
Ever since Domitian Argenis recognized Sarita as his life mate, he's been waiting for the perfect moment to claim her. Those fantasies did not include him being chained to a table in a secret lab or both of them being held hostage by a mad scientist. Somehow, they have to escape.
Sarita has seen some crazy things as a cop, but nothing to rival Domitian. A vampire? Seriously? But his healing ability, his incredible powers, and their mind-blowing physical connection - none of it should be possible, yet her body knows differently. Now, not only do they have to save each other, but other innocent lives are at stake. Failure is not an option, for Sarita intends that Domitian show her exactly what an eternity of pleasure feels like.

The style used for the reading reminded me of the over acting of old radio shows and the accents were ... distracting.
I am sure there are some that loved it... but it was not mu cup of tea and I won't be trying to listen to another with this reader.
Unfortunately Not What I Am Used To.

A bit slower than the rest of the series.

The accents were horrible! it ruined the story for me. come to think about it the accents of the main characters were far out too . Sarita sounds like she just stepped off the boat but grew up and worked as a police officer in Canada!

Aside from the terrible narrator, this book was one of the best!! There are twists & turns at all corners! I was on the edge of my seat... nothing was expected and I loved the humor AND the characters.
I have fallen In love with the Argeneau's & the Note's! *sigh* I'm just waiting for my life mate to come and scoop me up!
Well done Mrs. Leslie!

Narrator is Cringe Worthy

If this guy narrates another book, I will be buying a hard copy. Accents were all over the place and it was a good thing that men weren't often talking to other men. When it did happen, sometimes it was difficult to figure out who was talking. Other than the lead female character the other females were just bad. Emotions were over the top or nonexistant.
I'm sure Mr. Durant is a lovely man but in my humble opinion, aside from possibly a children's book, the man has no business narrating books.
Do yourself a favor. READ this book.
Loved the story . Worst Narrator Ever!,

This was a great story and addition to the series. Sarita and Domitian were both characters I really liked and their story was really good and kept me interested and engaged throughout.
Sarita is a cop that lives in Canada. Sarita was born in Venezuela, but her family moved away from there when she was very young, right after her mother died after a failed kidnapping. Sarita and her father moved to Canada to get away from the violence in Venezuela. Now, Sarita has lost all of her family except for a Grandmother that she's never met that still lives in Venezuela.
Domitian is an Immortal, a type of vampire originating in Atlantis that are made through the use of nanobots. Domitian is very old and has been waiting for a long time for his lifemate, the one person that's meant for him. He finally found her 15 years ago but she was only 13 years old at the time, way too young for Domitian to claim her. Domitian decided to wait until Sarita was grown and had spent 2 years in her chosen career before he moved to Canada to woo her.
Sarita is called to Venezuela because the Doctor her Grandmother works for, called to say she'd had an accident and needed Sarita. When Sarita arrives, she's given the run around and isn't allowed to see her Grandmother. When Sarita makes a move to find the mysterious Doctor to see what's going on, she finds that he's performing horrible experiments on Immortals that he's captured in an effort to see how others can be transformed. The next thing Sarita knows, she's been drugged and moved to a small home that seems to be remote and only reachable via a boat. The Doctor gave Sarita a brief overview of Immortals before he drugged her and once she wakes up, she finds her only companion in this place is an immortal named Domitian. They're lifemates and even if Sarita isn't sure how much of anything she's been told is true, she does find that she has an unnatural attraction for Domitian.
Domitian ended up on the island with Sarita after working with the Hunters that were looking for the Doctor that's been kidnapping immortals. Domitian decided to do this when he found out that the Doctor got Sarita to come to his island and Domitian feared for her life. Once they're trapped together, Domitian has to convince Sarita they're meant to be while figuring out a way to escape and notify the hunters about where the captured immortals are being held. Sarita is a very independent woman so there is some conflict as Domitian feels the need to protect her as much as possible while she wants to be part of things, convinced her human police training will allow her to achieve the needed goal. This is true to an extent but also, not really. Regardless of their disputes about how to handle things, with the help of some unexpected allies, Domitian and Sarita are able to get help and fix the bad situation they're in ending the story starting a HEA together.
I greatly enjoyed this story. I really liked Sarita and thought she was a great heroine. She didn't completely understand her own limitations at times and got in a bit of trouble in her efforts to protect Domitian but I still couldn't help but like her. Domitian was great. Although he's been a warrior in the past, he hasn't been one recently and yet he didn't hesitate to go into the fray to save Sarita and I loved that. Overall, the story was great and kept me interested until the end so I'd definitely recommend it. :D
Great addition to the series :D
