Acerca de esta escucha

Generations of secrets unfold as a young college student learns the truth about her great-grandmother’s World War II heartbreak and love. For fans of Francine Rivers and Karen Kingsbury.

Brianna Hastings’s life seems dull and full of disappointment until a handsome young man visits her church. She’s instantly smitten by the charming Greg, who leads an exciting, independent life—the kind of life she longs for. But when a college history assignment forces Brianna to interview her great-grandmother about life during World War II, she can’t believe it when Daisy presses her with questions about Greg’s character. “What sort of man is he? Who is he at his core?”

What could her great-grandmother possibly know about love at first sight?

The questions take both women back to Boise, Idaho, in the early 1940s, when war emphasized how fragile life could be. Daisy and her older sister pine for the same handsome bomber pilot—until one night of terrible judgment reveals their true characters and drives them apart. Trying to protect the people she loves the most, Daisy condemns herself to live a lie.

In the years that follow, as Daisy grapples with the consequences, she receives unexpected grace from a man she’s known her whole life but never looked at twice. Could what she learned about love save Brianna from heartache three generations later?

I really enjoyed listening to this story and will be relistening to it with my teenage aged kids. I loved the modern day story of a college student needing to interview an older relative to learn about their lived experience of history. And the story of how it felt to live in World war II was gripping as well. It appeared history might repeat itself. And kept you on the edge of your seat urging the characters to make better decisions.

So much good to unpack

Good book, predictable, but some good nice twists a happy family book. I just didn’t realize it was gonna have so much religious overtones in it.

This author has taken a life problem and turned it into a story of struggles, guilt, and love not only from her family and husband but from Christ who loved each of us and gave His life on earth so we could be forgiven of our sins. A great book especially for young women seeking love possibly in wrong circumstances .

Reality in life.

This was a fantastic story and very historically accurate. The message of forgiveness and atonement were very heartwarming. The audio performance was fine, but I was often confused by the slight southern accent that accompanied the reading, when the story is set in Idaho! 😁

Great story!

I enjoy stories that have a relationship with two different generations and this was outstanding! So glad when Daisy finally realized the gem who helped her….

I thoroughly enjoyed this story told across time- WWII and the present day, and really liked how the author tied both stories together at the end.

Overall very good book- however it is VERY VERY similar to “The Magic of Ordinary Days” by Ann Howard Creel. (Book & Hallmark movie) There were a few differences but the overall plot/vibe was the same. That is my favorite book/movie so it was okay with it-clearly I love it. Hahahha
Sooo if that is your jam then this will probably be too.

I thought this was a book about WWII. It was, but it was more about Christianity. That’s fine, but it was a bit saccharine. The narrator had a Southern accent for characters from around the Pacific Northwest, it was predictable, but I can say I finished it to find out the ending.

Be Prepared for More Christianity Than WWII

I related to the characters, enjoyed the setting and atmosphere. I appreciated the spirituality and the struggle to be be truly kind and loving. Unfortunately , at least to me, the sermonizing felt heavy handed and condescending. Maybe meant for young teens? It Felt to me like the story was a weapon to shove a sermon at the reader. I won’t be reading any other books from this author. Obviously, I’m just not the intended audience.

Enjoyed the plot
