About this listen

Every great romance comes with a risk...

After a duke's betrayal, the resilient Sarah Forrester reinvents herself as the Golden Lady: Society's leading light, the beautiful and witty life of the party. It's all a facade of course - one that protects her from another intimate disloyalty. When her old friend, Lieutenant Jackson Fletcher, returns to London, he is determined to rediscover the true and trusting Sarah he once knew. It'll take more than a kiss and a promise. It might even call for an innocent and necessary deception.

Then Jackson is enlisted to help capture the lead suspect in a murder - a man who happens to be Sarah's most ardent suitor. Jack must continue the deception, and weathering this newest and gravest betrayal will be Sarah's ultimate test. But as Jack's passion for her grows, he must also reveal his own secrets. And as the killer turns his attention to his pursuers, more than love and trust is put at risk.

Needs to be a Miniseries !

Cross Jack Ryan with Bridgerton and you get the Blue Raven Series. Someone needs to call Prime and get that deal going😉.
Yet another good story in this series!

About the words...

I noticed some words that I consider swearing which is not necessary. Secondarily certain words had emphasis that did not need to be emphasized either. Especially the word "suddenly" although it seems that this book had a few less "suddenly" events than the previous ones.

Ok

I liked this one better than book number three. It could have been a little bit shorter but it was ok.

Mystery and Romance

Kate Noble never disappoints, great read. I really enjoy that all her female characters are not defenseless or dull witted, she writes them to be strong and independent without loosing the propriety of the time period.

Okay story and excellent narration!

This is the second time listening to this series. I love this narrator! The author is a great story teller, minus the sexual content, which I always skip. Thankfully the scene(s) are brief and have no bearing on the story. This particular book in the series is good but not my favorite, however, still worth the read/listen.

Delightful

Kate Noble is an exceptionally gifted writer and this series is one not to be missed. Her style is perfected and descriptive, and can be compared to some of the greatest names in romantic literature. Her characters are memorable, and their dialogue is non-contrived and believably consistent. The series continuity is flawless and engaging. Her stories have substance and the romance is woven into the overall tapestry rather than being the main event. The heroes are swoon worthy, and the heroines are relatable and daring. It is difficult to believe she is a modern author, and didn’t live among the ton, because she knows the subject nuances and presents historical facts accurately.

Alison Larkin is outstanding as narrator. She brings the story to vivid life and is very pleasant to listen to.

If I Fall

The series gets better with each new book. I like the 2nd and 4th book the most. The narrator has been outstanding throughout the series and made the story come to life.

Can’t get enough

This series is just amazing and probably the best narrator I’ve experienced. This is book 4 and I’m overjoyed when I heard there’s a book five. You’ll love this series!

Way too long!

The plot had potential but it was ruined by the drawn out writing. I was constantly thinking, "Get to the point!" The chemistry between the characters was lacking and inconsistent. I didn't enjoy the narrator which obviously didn't help. I'm hoping the final book in the series will be better.
