I’ll admit this one was a tad different thank God but it was not her best.
I do like where the characters have gone after all these years.
I actually liked this narrator better than some of the others

Intelligent blending of UFO history, space exploration, and classic Cornwell mystery
The twists and turns in plot are masterful and I am glad to see her old writing style is back. Cary’s nasty plans are so tricky I could not figure them out and understand them or how Lucy outsmarted her . Although Moreno drives me nuts I’m glad he is back but Kaye’s character remains true to form and handles everybody with her usual patient understanding. Great ending!

The narrator’s annoying portrayal of Scarpetta’s sister
I know Scarpetta’s sister is *supposed* to be annoying but January LaVoy’s vocal portrayal of her was so jaw-clenchingly grating that I had to stop listening to her and listen to some Scott Brick narration to relax at bedtime.
The story resolution seemed implausible.
Maybe I just listened to it on a bad day.
I have been a Patricia Cornwall fan since I heard her speak decades ago at an FBI associates convention in Atlanta. I remain a loyal fan but this book isn’t one of my favorites.

Fast paced
I have enjoyed almost all of the Kay Scarpetta series. Most, I have more than enjoyed. This is one of the best. As always, I look forward to the next in the series. This did not let me down. I recommend this book to all Scarpetta fans. The biggest disappointment is that it had to end. I would hope in the next installment Lucy would have a serious, long term relationship. She is too young to be alone forever. I have always loved the Lucy character.
Please don’t wait too long for the next adventure.
