About this listen

This is a kisses only, sweet romance.

A movie star, a grump next door and a dating experiment gone awry. My brother’s best friend has always been a gorgeous thorn in my side. He’s the famous Sean O’Connell, rom-com celebrity, owner of a smile that can melt even the coldest of hearts.

My new next-door neighbor is not the man of my dreams.

He’s one of the happiest people I’ve ever met, and to be honest, it’s annoying. I don’t have to be happy or like people. I’m good, thank you very much.

But Sean thinks I need to be happy, and that means being in a relationship. He’s recruited my best friend and my brother to put the “Get Jessica A Man” plan into action.

A makeover and some speed dating were absolutely not on my social calendar. But there’s no stopping him once his minds made up.

As Sean’s sunny disposition starts to rub off on me, I feel myself falling. But for the wrong guy.

Is it possible the thorn in my side is actually the rose I’ve been longing for?

Ok, firstly, this book is incredibly enjoyable. The dialogue and banter was hilarious. I laughed out loud several times while listening. The story was well crafted and paced. It was absolutely delightful to ride along Sean and Jessica's love story. Secondly, the narration was super cool! This is a dual POV and there are two narrators. Not only do they narrate their own chapters, but also all their own dialogue. It was really engaging to have the narrators switch back and forth so frequently. I've never listened to an audiobook narrated like this before and loved it! This was an easy 5 stars for me.

Loved the dual narration from Zach Young and Lexi Balter

Sean is a successful rom com actor. Because of some unneeded and unwanted publicity he finds himself returning home. Jessica is a thriller writer, as long as she remembers she has had a crush on Sean. He is also the brother of her Evelyn her best friend. At a speed date Sean starts to see Jessica in new light.
Loved how Jessica is the grumpy and Sean is the light hearted one. You will find yourself laughing out loud, great humour and characters.

Reread Worthy

This was such a fun read. The fake dating was hilarious & envious. Normally I would rate this 4 stars cause it was a great story, with some predictable character plots but the traditionalism & display for chivalry & insisting on the chivalry won my heart. My father raised me with how a man is supposed to treat a woman. And sad chivalry in today’s world is hard to find. I will absolutely love to read this again!!

Falling for my brother's friend

This is a cute romantic comedy between friends. I liked that one is a Hollywood star and the other the best friend's sister, who has always loved him. I found myself laughing outload and when I got to the happy ending thinking aww.

Sweet story

- Brother's best friend
- Enemies to lovers
- Reverse grumpy/sunshine
- Close proximity
- Fake dating

I know every time I pick up a book by Abby Greyson, I am in for a treat. Her characters are always sassy and fun to read and the romances are super sweet.
I had the opportunity to listen to this book and it was so fun! It had dual narration, so the characters felt more real.

Sean is an actor who comes back to his small hometown for some much needed down time. He encounters his best friend's little sister, whom he always secretly liked. Unbeknownst to him, she feels the same way.

This is a cute story with a nod to fake dating, which is one of the tropes I enjoy reading. It is a perfect story to listen to over a weekend.

No, Don't Date Your Bros BFF. Yes, Listen to This

This review includes a summary of the narrators. The male narrator, Zach Young, always sounds like something is stuck in his nose or throat. He does a great job with expression and inflection, but I always get caught up in his weird sound. The female narrator, Lexi Balter, is good. She is a solid 4 stars.

Tropes:

Fake Dating

Meet Sean and Jessica in this "kisses only" book. Sean is a Hollywood sweetheart who needs a media break from his celebrity life. When his agent says he needs time out of the spotlight, the calls up his BFF and decides to spend the next few weeks in his home town. Once there, his first stop is to his sister's shop, Bake My Day, where he surprises his sister and her BFF, Jessica. Sparks fly with their barbing of one another and a plot to enhance Jessica's dating life is hatched.

I loved watching Sean discover how much he loved Jessica. He knew there were un-familiar feelings there, but didn't know what they were exactly. The story building up to him realizing that he loved her was great. Sub-characters are plotting their own stories and I am so there for them!.

Thank you for the audio file, this is my honest opinion.

A sweet clean love story

I really, really enjoyed this story of Sean and Jessica’s road to finding happiness.
Growing up together their relationship became very competitive, with lots of banter and with them regularly getting annoyed with each other.
I enjoyed that in this story the woman was the grumpy one and the man the happy one, doing everything he could to find her a man.
Things get complicated when feelings get in the way and neither will admit just how they feel.
Will they be brave enough to open up and reveal all?
This is my first time reading one of Abby’s stories, which I really loved.
I’ll be definitely wanting to know what happens in the rest of the series to Liam, Jamie and Evie.
I own the ebook but listened to the audiobook and liked the narration by Zach Young and Lexi Balter.
