I was hesitant, because the first title I read from Regine "The Nightmare" I wanted to drop Midway, this title even though it had me rolling my eyes through a few cringe moments I enjoyed this alot more! Malaya was a enjoyable female lead, though I disliked how she didn't have any part in helping her or Kronos win their cases. If anything she seemed more like a liability since she got caught once already and Ruiz used the information she gained that time to cover his corruption. But she was a strong character nonetheless. Kronos was a dreamboat. Absolutely no notes. Tough but oh so sweet. He's the reason this book is a overall 5, you'll fall in love. Daryl is perfect, perfect voice casting.

Awesome book

Love Regine Abel's ability to create all of these unique universes with their own rules and traditions. Each hero is special. plus Daryl Mayfield is an excellent actor who brings the story to life.

This story was very interesting but the more interesting is the narrator! Most of the time a dual narrative story but this one narrator I can picture both characters no problem!

I love this author she is my favorite and this narrator is also my favorite and when he gets into character and does the voices of the other characters in this awesome story it just takes my mind off to another place

What is not to 💕? This series is so so very wonderful. It has the most amazingly well written characters with exciting storylines that always keep you coming back for more. Malaya is an investigative reporter and she found out a judge was corrupt. What makes matters worse is that he’s a species that holds justice above all else. If we can’t trust Obosian justice we can’t trust anything. Just when she was to bring his corruption to light she herself is arrested and sent to the worst of prison planets. How will she ever prove herself innocent. Kronos is an Obosian warlord and a guard at the prison. He is found to be Malaya ‘s soul mate by the Prime Mating agency and Kayog asks him to help prove her innocence. This adventure is so good because it makes characters question their choices and shows that we must never become complacent and must watch out for corruption. It’s also a story of love partnership and passion. A great read and an even better listen. Daryl Mayfield once again is a superb narrator he brings not only the story to life but the characters fabulous ♥️🔥♥️🔥♥️🔥

excellent audio narrative

Originally the titles threw me off on this unusual series. But the well thought out storylines and feel good ( but not sappy) stories are cleverly crafted into appealing stories with unusual.characters. Excellent audio with the narrator handling the range of character voices and personalities seamlessly!

Best monster series out there and the narrator is spectacular! He can read any type of character voice without disturbing the plot. Definitely worth the credit!

Promising setup, poor execution

This book lost all its stars for the quality of the romance. No one can say Regine Abel doesn’t have ideas. She has TOO MANY ideas. But the quality of the romance: the casual touches, the intimacy, the slow spiritual connection has been completely lost. Maybe the series has gone on too long? Or maybe this author should do a genre switch, true crime or detective or straight fantasy?

My other issue is with the heroine and that WTF ending. Malaya (h) is an investigative reporter and without giving away too much, this book ends with her SUPRESSING the truth. For the ‘good’ of the public. Her exorbitant payoff was presented in the form of compensation for her wrongful imprisonment and the defamation of her character. But she basically took a bribe to support a cover up. In addition (by her own admission) if she hadn’t lucked out and bagged a powerful husband (thanks to Kayog) she would be dead, not alive, rich and powerful in her own right.

This book was supposed to be a whimsical alien romance 😭. Instead the only moral of this story is that: power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
