About this listen

In her small town, 17-year-old Delia Dee Skinner is known as the girl who wasn't taken. Ten years ago, she witnessed the abduction of her best friend, Sibby. And even though she told the police everything she remembered, it wasn’t enough. Sibby was never seen again.

At night, Dee deals with her guilt by becoming someone else: the Seeker, the voice behind the popular true-crime podcast Radio Silent, which features missing-persons cases and works with online sleuths to solve them. Nobody knows Dee’s the Seeker, and she plans to keep it that way.

When another little girl goes missing and the case is linked to Sibby’s disappearance, Dee has a chance to get answers, with the help of her virtual detectives and an intriguing new girl at school. But how much is she willing to reveal about herself in order to uncover the truth? Dee’s about to find out what’s really at stake in unraveling the mystery of the little girls who vanished.

Engaging

Tom Ryan's _I Hope You are Listening_ receives three stars from me due to the engaging plot.

This was an audio book read by Caitlin Davies, so first to address her performance. I thought the performance in terms of interpretation was good, solid. How she spoke as the main characters, their inflections and stresses, I thought was good. Her voices in terms and variation and range is not as good. Her older characters sounded funny to me. Also characters of the same age were odd in comparison to each other. However, none of this gets in the way of listening. Her flow is natural and realistic. She's recommended.

The book. First a small admission. I fell asleep for about an hour once, and I didn't back up. I felt that I did have enough information to go forward without being lost. However, that doesn't mean that I don't have questions. This suggest to me that all of the chapters has information that is important for the story. I find that solid writing.

in many ways, it is a plot driven text, which is something that I do enjoy and find is excellent for listening. Still, there is character development, specifically the main character. I think that's really the only character who changes from beginning to the end. But this is her story, so I guess that's excepted.

Overall, I found the text enjoyable, tense, engaging.

Recommended: yes. If you like a good mystery, this one fits well in the genre. If you are interested in YA / Teen novels, this is also a good one. If you like lesbian lit this fits well.
