A good follow up.

Would you listen to Hunting Season again? Why?

No. I just don't listen to audiobooks over again. There are too many books I haven't read.

What other book might you compare Hunting Season to and why?

I can't think of one.

What about Em Eldridge’s performance did you like?

I always enjoy Em's performance. I feel like she has Aurora down.

Any additional comments?

I didn't like this one as much as book 3. I think I figured out the reason. I don't like Fane. All of the scenes with him drag for me.

I did however really enjoy the Jared/Aurora team up in this book and look forward to the next book.

4/4.5 "Change of Plans?" Stars!

4 "Change of Plans?" Stars for the story and 4.5 narration stars!

Please note this series must be read in chronological order, and the below review contains spoilers for earlier books. If you haven't yet started this series, please see my review for Book 1, Aurora Sky.

In Hunting Season we are treated to a whirlwind of action between the hunted and the hunters. The only question is just who is being hunted as more secrets begin to be revealed about the secret, clandestine government agency that Aurora and her fellow vampire hunters and informants work for. But suspense is only one part of the equation in this UF young adult/new adult based romance as the love triangle and fight for Aurora's heart begins to unravel and Aurora's own heart driven motivations begin to be revealed.

Picking up where book 3 leaves off, at the beginning of Hunting Season we find Aurora trying to figure out how she is going to rescue Dante (who has been captured by Jared's former protege turned enemy, Giselle in an attempt to get Aurora to turn over Jared in exchange for Dante). Unfortunately for Aurora, the government agency she works for isn't as motivated in Dante's recovery as she is (even though he too is one of their agents). Instead Aurora's tasked with other assignments and left to also plot out her revenge on Jared (the "recruiter" from the agency who seems to have dubious motivations).

Fortunately for Aurora, and us(!), Fane is willing to help Aurora in her covert, double agent plans. As you can only imagine this close working together leads to further heating up and temptations regarding their already undeniable attraction. But Aurora is still technically dating Dante, and moreover is committed to rescuing him above all costs. Will Aurora be successful in her rescue and revenge attempts? And just who are Aurora's allies and enemies? Not to mention, who will Aurora choose to give her heart to: Dante or Fane?

Em Eldridge delivers another great performance in Hunting Season. Providing remarkable consistency in her character voices, Ms. Eldridge makes it so easy to settle back into the Aurora Sky series even after having listened to a number of other unrelated audiobooks in between. Additionally, Ms. Eldridge's attention to the mood of the scene and ability to impart emotion, makes listening to this tale a must.

The production quality is also fabulous in Hunting Season. Although this is an ACX produced title, you will feel like you're listening to an audiobook produced by one of the big audiobook producers.

All in all, I loved both the attention to the romance and suspense angle in Hunting Season, as well as the expert narration. This was one busy book with many different angles going on, so you will have to pay close attention to catch it all. However, if you do, you will find that it now truly feels like we are starting to get some inklings about the long-term direction of this series. Now I can't wait to continue with Book 5, Whiteout to find out if my suspicions pan out!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Aurora goes for Fane...when they make plans to travel the world...then at the end when she has to go on the run..I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Go to Fane..you got Dante...now flee!!!!

Any additional comments?

I was NOT given a free copy of this book for an honest review...after very generously getting 1-3 for free from Nikki, I purchased #4 because...I HAD TO HAVE IT!!! I am dying for #5 now...Aurora and me are bonded now...I love her...do I agree with all her decisions? NO...but being young and a vampire is hard...I am glad she rescued Dante, but leave him! I never thought he was good for her...I am team Fane! Aurora does everything to make other people happy..it is time for her to make herself happy....I can not wait for #5 and I hope there are many more!! Thank You Nikki for introducing me to this little series....I am a fan for life now!!!

I RECOMMEND THIS SERIES! WELL WORTH YOUR TIME AND A CREDIT!!

New addiction

Aurora Sky is wonderful!!! she is strong and courageous and quick thinking!! I can't get enough of this series! I love but don't love the endings of these books because she always ends up in such a predicament! but that is just a great way to set up for the next book! I really enjoy the writing style and performance! I will definitely be getting the fifth book! and I'll wait very impatiently for it to be released!

Volume 4

What did you love best about Hunting Season?

Hunting Season was pretty good. We get to learn more about each of the characters, which I always appreciate. Well, the ending isn’t nice and neat, since stuff still needs to get done, but for the most part it ends on a relatively calm note. To be continued.

Even better than the first 3 books...

This audio book "Hunting Season" (Aurora Sky book 4) by Nikki Jefford is even better than the first 3 books in this series. This entire series is freaking awesome!. It is loaded with action, adventure, A little bit of romance, paranormal, suspense thriller. This book and the entire series is just loaded with surprises. Twists and turns that it will make you dizzy! I love this series!!! I love how Dante, Aurora and Fane continue on from book to book. too.

The author, Nikki Jefford did a superb job writing this series and this book! I love the plot & all the hard work that went into making it the success it is. The narrator, delivered yet another flawless read with her multiple voices! I love Gizelle's accent too! Everything sounded so authentic. Great job ladies!!!

What do you do when nothing goes to plan?

If you're looking at book four you either need to head to book one or you already like this series and if you liked the first three you'll definitely like this one.

Lots of unexpected information comes to light in this book and it fills in some gaps you may not have even noticed (or maybe you did There's lots of character development as this information comes to light with characters reacting is a range of different ways.

Many sets of plans are made, but you know what they say about plans... they don't survive engagement with the enemy. But just who is the enemy?

The narration is still excellent and makes listening to this book a experience you don't want to stop. I just barely manages to make myself stop to sleep.

Great Series!

Any additional comments?

This is a great book; this is the fourth book in The Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter series written by Nikki Jefford and narrated by Em Eldridge. You will want to read this series in order just so you get a feel for the characters. Aurora is a vampire hunter on assignment in Alaska to help them control the vampire problems there. She is able to kill vampires by using her blood to paralyze them, giving her time to kill them. Ever since Aurora’s partner was kidnapped, she has been on a personal mission to get him back. In order to get him back she teams up with her friends and a certain vampire in black.

The narrator Em Eldridge, did a wonderful job, and was very easy to listen too. She did a great job with the different characters and their voices.

This book has a great story; if you are looking for a great romance, then you need to get this book. I am looking forward to the next book by this author. Once I started listening to this book, I didn’t want to stop until the end. This series is awesome!

A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
