About this listen

Within the Galactic Union, few entities are as powerful - or as feared - as the Mercenary Guild.

They have absolute power; after all, they are the ones with the weapons. The only other armed agency, the Peacemaker Guild, is far smaller and unable to bend them to their will. But absolute power has the tendency to corrupt absolutely, and this is becoming increasingly apparent as the guild’s members pursue their hidden agendas.

Leeto, the Merc Guild’s Speaker, and the Veetanho General Peepo are no different than the rank and file. They will use any means necessary - within the law or not - to accomplish their goal of destroying humanity. With the invasion of Earth already complete, a single compliant Hunter could be the Guild’s perfect weapon to finally accomplish their goals.

Except that Hunters aren’t known for their compliance.

Sparks are sure to fly as the unstoppable force of the Mercenary Guild comes up against the immovable object that is the will of the galaxy’s deadliest assassins. Guns in the light battle knives in the dark as the Mercenary Guild takes on the Depik Hunters, and only one will emerge victorious. Who will survive to kill another day?

An interesting story

Was very intriguing listen. Would recommend this one many times over. And I can't wait to hear a sequel to this particular story line.

Tale Not Tales - but has Tails! : D

Loved this indepth story about the Depeck, (apology if spelling is off, you don't get the spelling of unusual or made up words when listening), a race of the 4HU's most lethal assassins

Again, this is only a SINGLE STORY NOT A COLLECTION OF TALES as I expected it to be. The "Tales if the Four Horsemen" started off as a grouping of short stories, all set in the 4HU, by multiple authors. Sometimes just various un related short stories & others are the same, except they're centered on a particular theme, so ey all go together, have the same timeline.

Lately though, I'm running in solo tales, the book before this on & the book after all also single stories.

Maybe the authors decided to change the meaning of the series title to mean that all the books in this series are a "Tale" & that collectively all of these books make up the "Tales" but that just seems weird to me after they started of as a collection of short stories in a single book.

Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly ENJOY any addition to the 4HU., I just think they make more sense as part of the main series?

If you love the 4HU, you'll want to read this book too. If you haven't & you like military (mercanary groups) sci fi that takes place between ground (planets) & spacecraft battles, with multiple alien races & planetary systems, intrigue & well written characters, I definitely recommend the 4HU.

My only suggestion would be start at the beginning of the main series first. Eventually you'll wind up here & want to buy this too, because you'll be thoroughly hooked & wanting to read anything from the 4HU that you can get your hands on. The 4HU's Series are that good.

One thing I love is how the interpersonal relationships between coworkers, friends, other aliens & sometimes, even romantic partners are written. An excellent job is done & there's no dwelling on romantic partnerships, no details about their sex life, other than they had it. The story stays focused on the intrigue and action.

Last, but not least, is the Narrator. He's perfect for the job & easy to listen too. A few of his female voices sound like a guy trying to sound like a girl & not so great at it, but never so bad it takes you out of the story. He's great at the male characters & alien, even the female aliens. I truly hope he continues to do all the upcoming 4HU books. He's a keeper & the 4HU wouldn't be the same without him! It'd be as bad as killing off the main character!

More twists than a Hunter’s tail

Awesome. I really hope this gets made into a series like Battlestar Galactica. It is rich, intriguing and immersive.

I hate CATS

Not good at all. Story was weak, the "hero' was in convincing and it was just not worth the read.

Soft core cat fetish

If female authors want a broad audience, this is what to avoid. Weak. More cat worship than sci fi. Seriously, I do not know how this was acceptable in this series. It could have been a couple of chapters in another book without the cat fawning.
