About this listen

A playbook for growing your business no matter the circumstances.

“Weeds scale faster than any business. It’s in their DNA.”—Kathy Ireland, CEO, Kathy Ireland Worldwide

Hall-of-Fame-nominated marketer, bestselling author, and Wall Street Journal cartoonist Stu Heinecke shares his fascination with weeds and how anyone can grow their business into something resilient and unstoppable.

How to Grow Your Business Like a Weed applies a model to business growth, examining the successful strategies that ordinary weeds use to spread, and prosper in almost any situation.

This book will enable readers to apply strategies, mapping their own path to rapid and sustainable growth, while providing focus on weed-based attributes to get the job done quickly and effectively. It also provides a pathway to transform their entire team into a collective of weeds operating on behalf of the company, acting as an incubator for innovation and productivity, while enriching their own opportunities for growth and security.

An accessible and practical guide that leaders and companies across industries can help increase their market share, prominence, and customer base, this book enables them to grow, expand, dominate, and defend their turf.

Stu has explored the Weeds model for several years, collecting insights from thought leaders from the worlds of business, government, and entertainment including: T. Boone Pickens, Kathy Ireland, General Barry McAffrey, Henrik Fisker, Gareb Shamus, Giovanni Marsico, Esther Dyson, Christopher Lochhead, Nathan Myrhvold, Carmen Medina, Jon Ferrara and Jonna Mendez.

Stu is the real thing!

The book is loaded with great ideas that, when applied rigorously, will improve your results. And the weed analogies are deep and well considered making for a good read.

ok read hard to follow

the intent of the topic was to be relatable, a d make things understandable. unfortunately it made it unnecessarily convicted and hard to follow.
the points were easy enough to understand, but to hard to listen to and hard to remember all the plants and lessons to make applicable

If your not a weed don’t read this

This book is only for weeds! If your not a weed this book will not influence you and will be a waste of your time. Use the money you will spend on this book and purchase as an elegant rose bush. Now for you who have pigheaded persistence
and optimism this book is for you. Weeds grow anywhere, rose bushes don’t!

Weed analogy disappointing

I saw the title of this book, thinking, yes business as a weed- that sounds great. I was thinking this book would sort of be a gorilla techniques for small business - and it was to some extent, however the weed analogy was taken too far. The analogy was stretched too far and there was no central weed paradigm that I came away with. You could have just as well titled the book, Grow Your Business Like and Armadillo and then created armadillo analogies. The book has some good ideas still, but I was disappointed in what it was versus could have been

80% Botany 20%+Generic Advice=100% Disappointment

As someone who owns both "How to Get a Meeting with Anyone" and "Get the Meeting" in both print and audio, I found this book to be repetitive and very disappointing. The repeated content and filler make me think it was either ghostwritten by a new writer or an A.I. bot. The strategy that this book proposes is not a solid business strategy but more of an analogy of how your business should operate. The rest of the book is just botany on weeds that "literally" gets repeated every chapter to fill some space.

If you're a fan of Stu's previous works, I'd skip this book and get an actual business strategy book instead.
