In contrast, sweets lack fiber and therefore the glucose is rapidly absorbed which tends to an initial upward spike in blood glucose level followed by a rapid drop in blood glucose level which is called rebound hypoglycemia. The sudden onset of rebound hypoglycemia often makes a person guzzle down some coffee and donuts which repeats the process. Excess dietary sweets in sensitive person leads to a roller coaster blood glucose curve with resultant weight gain.
