About this listen

For Elizabeth Bennet, Charlotte is the friend who is—annoyingly—always right. Colonel Fitzwilliam is the mischievous brother she never had. And if their convictions that Mr. Darcy is in love with her are correct, he could be the lover she’s always wanted.

There’s only one problem—he tried to ruin her favorite sister’s life, and she made an absolute fool of herself in front of him.

Can lasting happiness come out of such a beginning? And can a man die from chasing a woman too quick to be caught? Darcy is about to find out.

Three Elizabeth’s.

Elizabeth Bennett’s story is recreated beautifully by Elizabeth Adams and read by Elizabeth Grace. This was a lovely and witty retelling of Darcy’s proposal at Hunsford. A perfectly enchanting JAFF.
Now I want to re-listen to two other favorites by Elizabeth Adams and narrated by Elizabeth Grace, “Green Card” and “Sons of Pemberley.” “Green Card” is a modern reimagining of P&P and “Sons of Pemberley” is a sweeping saga of 25 years of the Darcy family, intwined with Elizabeth and Darcy’s courtship, betrothal and marriage.
There is nothing quite as wonderful as the three Elizabeth’s.

It's Wonderful to see Darcy this Romantic

There are a couple of key twists to canon, though they are fairly minor. But, honestly, don’t those make for the best JAFF? Take one or two key elements and give them a minor change, leaving the remaining characters to develop as a result?

This one does it well. For example, what if, instead of Colonel Richard Fitzwilliam divulges Wickhams sins to Lizzy at Hunsford, instead of Darcy’s role in breaking up Jane and Bingley? Does that start Lizzy o. Her path to question her other beliefs? The Proposal still takes place, but with a minor change. No, she doesn’t accept him, like Imsaid a MINOR change.

The story that follows introduces more of Darcy’s family in his efforts to win Lizzy’s favor, some with good results, some not so much. The story could have used an epilogue or a slightly softer ending. It comes to a rather abrupt stop, or maybe I just wasn’t ready for it to end.

Elizabeth Grace does a good job at narrating. She is able to provide both male and female voices, seemingly with ease, and provides the appropriate inflections for emotions and laughter.

It will be added to my favorites for another listen someday.

Great story

This story was as great as the author’s other books. Elizabeth is a bit in her cups - unknowingly of course - due to Charlotte’s ministrations due to her headache when mr Darcy comes to propose at Hunsford. Great Jaff

Sweet Variation read Very Well

I enjoyed this P&P version, especially the beginning with Lizzy & Charlotte followed by Darcy’s almost proposal. Lizzy in her cups was Very Believably portrayed by the narrator. That was such a cute scene. There were A LOT of such scenes between Lizzy and Darcy - great dialogue. More time was given to Col Fitzwilliam than is usually the case in these variations which I particularly liked as I am a huge fan of his. The narrator did an excellent job.

Good story, very low angst

This story is mega low angst. I usually prefer a little more, but this is still an overall solid story. My only issue with this narrator is her forced laughs. She's a fantastic narrator, it's just that the laughs become a tad grating.

Always a fan of Elizabeth Adams!

I love this story because Darcy realizes that just expecting any woman to say yes to his proposals, while despising the type of woman who would, is an unfair expectation of Elizabeth Bennet. So he must court her and let her get to know him. And it is a lovely courtship with hiccups and stumbles, romance and growth all along the way.

But what made me decide to write a review is the narrator. Elizabeth Grace is a truly fantastic narrator and has joined my list of top five favorites; a list that includes Xe Sands, Harry Frost, Mary Jane Wells, and Lillian Rachel. Her male voices are delightful. The Colonel's voice takes a word or two for her to get into the feel of it but her Darcy voice is a low sexy voice and it works well. I will be watching for more books narrated by her.

One of the best variations!

This P&P variation was one of the most fun variations I’ve ever read. Great mix of a departure from the normal story line, but not too far. Lots of humor and heartfelt situations where Darcy gets to prove his love of Elizabeth resulting in her finally falling for him. The characters of the Colonel and great uncle Darcy were the best. Thank you Ms. Adams!

A Marvelous Story

I bought this book because I have read others by Elizabeth Adams and enjoyed them. This one is now one of my new favorites! I laughed through parts and felt hopeful through others. The characters are drawn so well and the reader does a wonderful job in portraying each one. If you like low angst stories with a satisfying happy ending, this one is for you.

Another hit

Ms Elizabeth Adams did again. This is a wonderful story. I quite enjoyed it.

Ms Elizabeth Grace is a wonderful narrator and is a great job bringing the story to life. There was a tiny editing stumble but it didn't affect the overall performance.

Loved this story. Clever and funny! Everything a P&P variation should be. This will definitely be on my favorites list to enjoy again.
