Great and helpful read

I finished this book within just a few days. My boyfriend recently left the cult and I read this in order to get to know more about the journey he is taking. The information in this book gave me so many powerful tools and subjects to be mindful of, and I am grateful that Lloyd laid out such eloquent examples and advice for those undergoing what he has already. When he is ready, I hope that my boyfriend will give this a listen.

Extremely Important Work of Non-Fiction

This book is so wonderful & so necessary. Mr. Evans was extremely courageous in his work on this book. It's the best book I've found about this subject & sorely needed in this world! Thank You Mr. Evans. I am a disfellowshipped former witness who was secretly forced to become one while having to keep it from my father who was not interested in it & very skeptical of this cult. It is a dangerous cult which still does affect my life it very difficult ways especially currently as my father was killed a few weeks ago & it's being covered up by the witnesses unwillingness to engage in controversy so he was cremated just as an investigation was about to begin into his death by my brother a witness, whose been stealthy & lied repeatedly to coerce me into thinking he would be my family again to manipulate me into signing papers giving him control over my Dads estate. I am saddened by these events but this book is helping navigate this after being disfellowshipped in 1982 & working all these years to try to get over it, the panic, anxiety, fears, doubts & everything spoken of in this wonderful book. Thank You So Very Much as this is exactly what I needed right now to help me get thru this period though I know it will be a hard time for a long time unfortunately. This religion impacted my life in ways I never saw coming or could have imagined & now once again is. I was told by my JW brother that he did love me(it's been over 30yrs) however cannot consider me a family member. I am unclean & they cannot even eat a meal at the same table as me. We are dealing with my fathers death or murder but he's covering for the sister who killed him because there is still hope for her as she's not been disfellowshipped like me. It's a sick, twisted, manipulative religion that uses fear to rule its people. This book will help me much at this time of difficulty though I know it will go on until I no longer have to deal with any of my family members involved in it. I moved nearly 400 miles away at 18 because I thought I could just leave but that isn't the case & 5 men in suits in their 50's up came to question me about sex in my past & things I may have or may not have done. Even though one of their Elders said he didn't think I should be punished & even called my mother to tell her-the rest over-rid his thinking & decided I had no remorse for whatever it is I had done in their minds. I lost all family & friends & had my son kidnapped multiple times by these individuals who then abused him until I could get him back. It's just so frightening & though I do not fear them anymore-my son's an adult & glad he was taken out of it, I suffered years of thinking I'd done the wrong thing putting his chance for "eternal life" in jeopardy which they'd told me over & over using my own fathers life as a threat to me. I was abused sexually & emotionally & came close to suicide many times because of feeling I could not relate to people at all never mind trust or have friends in my life. I hope you all check this book out & listen to it over & over. It's just so important.
