Publisher's summary

An inspiring biography of one of the most influential and beloved figures of the 21st century, based on more than 1,000 interviews.

How to Be Like is a "character biography" series: biographies that also draw out important lessons from the life of their subjects. In this new book - by far the most exhaustive in the series - Pat Williams tackles one of the most influential people in recent history.

While many recent biographies of Walt Disney have reveled in the negative, this audiobook takes an honest but positive look at the man behind the myth. For the first time, the book pulls together all the various strands of Disney's life into one straightforward, easy-to-listen-to tale of imagination, perseverance, and optimism. Far from a preachy or oppressive tome, this audiobook scrapes away the minutiae to capture the true magic of a brilliant maverick.

"How to Be Like Walt is a fitting tribute to Walt's memory and an important contribution to the Disney legacy . . . Now more than ever, we need people with the qualities Walt had: optimism, imagination, creativity, leadership, integrity, courage, boldness, perseverance, commitment to excellence, reverence for the past, hope for tomorrow, and faith in God." Loved it!

I love to study the life of Walt Disney. From his boyhood home in Marceline, Missouri to the majestic dream of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. This audiobook was read very well and does contradict a few other things I have read about Uncle Walt. But overall, it’s in keeping with about 99% of what I believe to know about him from studying his life. I was brought to tears many times during this presentation.
Growing up in the 80s and 90s with The Wonderful World of Disney and always having a Disney movie in the VCR, Walt was always in our home even though he never physically stepped foot in it. He was taken from this earth too early.
I recommend this audiobook for anyone wanting to get a better understanding of who he was as a man, while simultaneously looking into themselves, figuring out how to be a better human being.

Loved it!

One of my favorites to inspire me in business and as a person! I now consistently think “what would Walt do” to strengthen me in decisions. Narrator is wonderful. Highly recommend!

excellent

A great look into Walt's life, outlook, and his life philosophy. There is much we can learn about how to live life gom Walt Disney and this book definitely helps guide you; however, I could have done without the biblical messages. Walt was a spiritual man and the author uses this to occasionally go off on his own mini sermon. Regardless, I still loved it and even got misty eyed when the author wrote about Walt' s death

Walt Disney....A True Gift from God.

May the lessons of Walt's life inspire us all to do our share to make this world a better place; may all the dreams God has planted in your heart come to pass. God bless.

Magical

Great combination of Disney biography and how-to. Got many great ideas from both bio and the distillation of the meaning behind the history. Great for someone who wants to start thinking bigger and taking more risks.

A bit too self-help, but really good

The self-help asides weren’t overly annoying, but I did find myself wishing the author would stop telling me how to be like Walt and go back to showing me.

Otherwise an excellent biography of a worthy man.

Now I Know What to Do

If you could sum up How to Be Like Walt in three words, what would they be?

Enlightening, entertaining, empowering

What other book might you compare How to Be Like Walt to and why?

I've never read anything like it.

Which character – as performed by Paul Christy – was your favorite?

Walt

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No tears, yes laughter. Mostly musing laughter. Surprised scoffs.

Any additional comments?

I really want to be like Walt. I'm so disappointed we've let his Epcot dream die, especially as a professional innovation strategist - a city of experimentation and rapid prototyping would have been incredible. Expensive, yes. But worth every cent. And I will never smoke cigarettes.
