About this listen

One clueless single dad...

Dr. Corbin Davis is a busy guy just trying to do his best as a single parent. He may be oblivious to a lot of things, but surely he would’ve noticed something as important as his 15-year-old son Grayson being bullied, right? And what the heck is nonbinary, and why hasn’t Gray shared this all-important part of himself with his own dad?

Plus one sassy Southerner...

Andy Ferguson, or Kandi as the Thursday night drag community knows him, is just trying to get along in a small town and hold things together while he takes care of his beloved Gam-Gam. If she’d just get off his back about finding himself a man, that would be fantastic, thank you very much. He’ll get around to love...one of these days.

Equals a pair of fake boyfriends who will keep you in stitches.

When Corb gets the wild idea to ask Andy to pose as his boyfriend to let Gray know that his dad is bisexual and open-minded enough to talk to about his nonbinary status, Andy is amused and just intrigued enough to say yes...especially since he seems to be in the market for a fake boyfriend himself, if it will get Gam-Gam to quit nagging.

loved it all

This was so delightfully delicious and I loved every single word. Angsty sweet and must be experienced and will love. The characters drew me in and I quickly became invested. I look forward to more in this series. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life.

Great start to a new series!

I Ioved this story. It is full of snark, humor, feelings, drama and romance! It is chock full of characters that you will simply adore.
Corbin and Andy are delightful characters and i love them together. The supporting characters add so much to this story.
I am never disappointed when I listen to a Michael Pauley audiobook and this is no exception. He adds so much to an already wonderful story!

A Must Listen

I absolutely loved this!! The narrator is fabulous!! The voice change for each character was awesome!! This story went through so many emotions. It’s an incredible ride! And it touches on issues that the LGBTQ community face from young adults to adults. I highly recommend listening to this and reading the book.

perfect!

How Not To Blend by Sussn Hawke is the first novel in the new LOVESTRONG series. It is a hilarious story of fake boyfriends finding real love. The colorful and wonderful characters that fill the pages had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. There are also some moments that leave you feeling all the feels and deals with serious topics. Oh and a flash mob moment that made me squeal. It is hard to not fall in love with the amazing people in this book. If this is the first book, I can not wait to see what comes next.

Narrator Michael Pauley does a fantastic job bringing the characters' personality out. Each voice unique and perfect.... the story comes to life.

Loved it

I loved this funny and entertaining story. If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would, I enjoyed listening to this story so very much. This is the best fake boyfriends story I listened to in a while. The characters were wonderful, the story captivating and narration amazing. Loved it so much. Cannot wait to listen to other stories in Lovestrong series. I highly recommend this audiobook.

Sweet!

I have gotten tired of gay romances with broken, damaged characters with dark kinks. It was nice to read wholesome, funny romance for a change.

Sweet story

I seem to start all of my reviews with “I love this book”. It’s as true as ever with this beautiful story. I loved getting to hear a different side of Susan Hawke. I have always enjoyed Susi Hawke’s books and like this very different, very similar story. Michael Pauley is one of the best male narrators working today. He gave voice to the characters in this book as expertly as ever. I can hardly wait for the next book by Susan Hawke. But, right now I have a date with Susi.

Perfect Performance

The book was good but listening to the audible brings it to great. Corbin is so cluelessly sweet in the beginning and then becomes enthralled with Andy. Fake to real is fine in the cutest way. Every time Andy has a verbal episode it totally cracks me up with the voice Michael Dean gives him. Then there is Honey Combover who is a great side character especially with the deep butch voice!!

Great!

A father learning about the bullying his child is enduring, learning about being nonbinary as he, himself, finds love with a spirited, drag loving, wonderful guy. What more could you ask for. Michael Pauley is wonderful in this book!
