In 1986, a veteran CIA officer is dispatched to Central America as part of America's clandestine support for the Contra rebels fighting to overthrow Nicaragua's socialist president, Daniel Ortega, and his Sandinista government. While there, he is unnerved by a violent episode that changes his attitudes toward himself and his career. He resigns from the CIA to join an old CIA colleague who is now an attorney prosecuting a difficult homicide case in Florida. Events cause both men to re-assess their priorities about love and life, while working to seek justice in the case.
