Publisher's summary

The stunning third book in the sexy, action-packed Crescent City series, following the global best sellers House of Earth and Blood and House of Sky and Breath.

Bryce Quinlan never expected to see a world other than Midgard, but now that she has, all she wants is to get back. Everything she loves is in Midgard: her family, her friends, her mate. Stranded in a strange new world, she's going to need all her wits about her to get home again. And that's no easy feat when she has no idea whom to trust.

Hunt Athalar has found himself in some deep holes in his life, but this one might be the deepest of all. After a few brief months with everything he ever wanted, he's in the Asteri's dungeons again, stripped of his freedom and without a clue as to Bryce's fate. He's desperate to help her, but until he can escape the Asteri's leash, his hands are quite literally tied.

In this sexy, breathtaking sequel to the number one best sellers House of Earth and Blood and House of Sky and Breath, Sarah J. Maas' Crescent City series reaches new heights as Bryce and Hunt's world is brought to the brink of collapse—with its future resting on their shoulders.

Literal perfection

Sarah J Mass is a genius. Her books make me feel things in my soul and this is no exception. A perfect ending

Ummm…

So I will say I loved the narrator and the character development. The ACOTAR addition was a bit much in the last book. Now aliens?! Not sure if I’m continuing series.

Well worth the wait

This book was a rollercoaster of emotions that I was happy to be on. I hope it’s not the last in this series, but if it is, I will be satisfied with its ending.

Excellently done!

A perfect finale to Crescent City, bringing together the Lore SJM has build across universes in an ultimate ending to Bryce Quinlan's story. A book well-written and a story well-planned, I enjoyed it very much.

Love this series

This story is refreshing, brilliant, and heartwarming. So sad it’s over. But it was a pleasure see the characters grow. Love the performance also.

Typical Maas and Evans

I love Maas’ ability to draw you in and make you love and hate characters. Only thing I hated about this book is the sudden change in POV when you’re into part of the story. I had to pause and regroup my imagination a few times to follow the right part of the story. Evans’ performance was outstanding as usual. The amount of different voices she has is astounding.

Seems like there were several “fast forwards” towards the end…

Overall, I loved the book, but some of the story lines seemed to just go from straight up conflict to a one liner or brief monologue & then complete resolution. Honestly, it just seemed like the writing got a little lazy in the end & there was a need to just “skip to the good part”. I found myself being surprised by how quickly characters changed their minds about something with no real development outside of a small bit of dialogue. It felt rushed.
