About this listen

Timothy is on probation. It's a strange word - something that happens to other kids, to delinquents, not to kids like him. And yet, he is under house arrest for the next year. He must check in weekly with a probation officer and a therapist and keep a journal for an entire year. And mostly, he has to stay out of trouble.

But when he must take drastic measures to help his struggling family, staying out of trouble proves more difficult than Timothy ever thought it would be.

By turns touching and funny, and always original, House Arrest is a middle-grade novel in verse about one boy's path to redemption as he navigates life with a sick brother, a grieving mother, and one tough probation officer.

My heart

This book! I want to reach out and hug the characters. Every choice they make, no matter the reason has huge impact upon their futures. This is a story of struggle and heartache.

Surprisingly Entertaining!

After being voluntold by my daughter that she signed me up for her bookclub meeting, I didn't approach this book in the best head space. This book has so many unexpected twists and turns that it kept me listening. I got more out of it than my 6th grader or anyone in her group, so it may be a little complex for a 6th grade mind but nonetheless, VERY well written!

Wonderful, Outstanding, Phenomenal

The title of this story is very great for this book in particular. I think K.A. Holt is an wonderful author and this is definitely up his alley. The story line continuously reminds you that the main character is on house arrest.

PERFORMANCE
In my opinion the performance could have possibly been better especially since it a book that is read to you because if not you will probably end up taking a nap and then waking up to the loud voice of the narrator.

STORY
The story is amazing and will really make you think your own life and what you're grateful for.

Amazing.

I love the way they make it so that you think it’s a poem (in the book.) I love how interesting and in detail it is. I just love it!

HOUSE ARREST

I would not suggest this book for kids since this book has a lot of the words stupid and bad decisions he has made. This story is amazing though and I love how the character changes over time. This is a book for Young adults.

Better off reading yourself

I have used numerous audible titles in my classroom over the past few years, with much success. My students usually listen attentively and enjoy the books immensely. I was excited to use this title, as the book is a great book, and I was looking forward to playing it for my students. I was extremely disappointed in the reading performance of this book. The reader's voice was dull, flat, slow, and showed no real inflection. In short, it was boring. Instead, I have now been reading the book to my students,
