About this listen

In the shadow of victory, some wars never end.

September 1946: As London rebuilds after war, Frank Brigandshaw arrives from Africa with vengeance in his heart and a question burning on his lips. Armed with colonial swagger and sharp charisma, he confronts the Honourable Barnaby St Clair—the man he believes is his real father.

When Barnaby rejects him, Frank dives into London’s post-war social scene, where everyone’s broke but pretending otherwise. From smoky jazz clubs to glittering galleries, he schemes through high society, stirring unrest wherever he goes.

Meanwhile, his sister Beth has found quiet independence in South Kensington. When their paths collide, old wounds reopen—and her bond with war-wounded Paul Crookshank offers a chance at something new.

As class lines blur in Attlee’s welfare state, the Brigandshaw family’s secrets begin to crack wide open. Harry Brigandshaw clings to the lies that once held them together—but Frank’s quest for the truth may tear them all apart.

Peter Rimmer’s sweeping seventh Brigandshaw novel reveals how buried truths don’t stay buried—and how the horns of this dilemma could pierce them all.

The story is great

I liked it all. I’ve listed to the first 7 and hope that Audible continues with the additional books in the series.
