About this listen

As Catholics, we believe in the resurrection of the body. We profess it in our creed. We're taught that to bury and pray for the dead are corporal and spiritual works of mercy. We honor the dead in our Liturgy through the rite of Christian burial. We do all of this, and more, because when Jesus Christ took on flesh for the salvation of our souls he also bestowed great dignity on our bodies.

In Hope to Die: The Christian Meaning of Death and the Resurrection of the Body, Scott Hahn explores the significance of death and burial from a Catholic perspective. The promise of the bodily resurrection brings into focus the need for the dignified care of our bodies at the hour of death. Unpacking both scripture and Catholic teaching, Hope to Die reminds us that we are destined for glorification on the last day.

Our bodies have been made by a god who loves us. Even in death, those bodies point to the mystery of our salvation.

Hope to Die gives us the true reason to live life joyfully and with purpose . Excellent for this time when Godlessness is being promoted as the only option. Thank you Mr Hahn

Excellent book! So thankful that it was narrated by Scott Hanh, and not someone else. His own words come alive through his narration. Highly recommend this book for those who want to be drawn deeper into the truths taught by the Catholic Church.

Excellent and inspiring for spiritual growth

Everything Dr. Scott Hahn writes is gold. I Love this book. It could be used at Catholic Seminaries as a supplement for Eschatology. I am a lot better prepared to engage in conversations about treating the bodies of our beloved dead with dignity, respect, and even reverence.

Gold.

A great book that is much needed. I appreciate the idea of catching action as a means of change! Burial takes on greater meaning in the context presented. The hope of death and the rational for this hope was clearly conveyed. I recommend others to read and Be not afraid.. thanks Dr Hahn

I thought this was going to be about how to live a life well so you can die well. But really it was an argument for the dignity of the human body and an urging to stop cremating unless absolutely necessary. I almost stopped listening but I'm so glad I continued.

I was surprised my opinion has changed after reading/listening to this book. I have to make my husband listen to it now.

not what I expected but what I needed

I wish this book actually came out before the pandemic. One thing that is very evident right now is that we have lost any sense of hope in our lives. Additionally our fear of death dominates our thinking today. Dr Hahn’s ability to elevate dying in a state of grace to a hopeful event is a core element of what’s missing in order to live a joyful life. Run on sentence alert.... Reading this book can put us all back on a path to a deeper understanding of aligning our suffering and death to Christ’s, leading joy in His and our resurrection.

More than ever, we need hope today
