About this listen

In the feuding English court, gentle Lady Madelyne suffered the cruel whims of her ruthless brother, Baron Louddon. Then, in vengeance for a bitter crime, Baron Duncan of Wexton—the Wolf—unleashed his warriors against Louddon's domain. Exquisite Madelyne was the prize he catured...but when he gazed upon the proud beauty, he pledged to protect her with his life.

In his rough-hewn castle, Duncan proved true to his honor. But when at last their noble passion conquered them both, she surrendered with all her soul. Now, for love, Madelyne would stand fast...as bravely as her Lord, the powerful Wolf who fought for...Honor's Splendour.

What did you love best about Honor's Splendour?

Strong characters and a compelling setting lay a firm foundation for a good read.

How could the performance have been better?

At the beginning of the book the narrator ends most every sentence with a breathy sigh and continues to repeat unfortunate choice of cadence frequently throughout the book - it distracts repeatedly from the story.

Any additional comments?

The narrator has a good variety of character accents. It seems that she's working so hard on her accents that she looses her ability to vary her cadence and tenor. The story was well written and compelling and I'll look forward to reading 'Garwood's work again.

narrator is distracting, story is wonderful

I think the story is a good one but it was spoiled in part by the poor narration. The narrator has an annoying habit of breathily dragging out the last word of certain phrases very unnaturally, especially the word "her", which becomes "hhheeerrrrrr". Ugh! I wasn't sure I could make it through the entire book for that reason.

Good Story...Awful Narrator

I thought I would give Anne Flosnick another chance...unfortunately, not any better. Will not purchase another audiobook with this narrator, period.

Julie Garwood is Awesome ~ Narrator is Horrible!

What does Anne Flosnik bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is a favorite narrator of mine. Thee would not have been an experience without her.

I really enjoyed this book. I probably will listen to it again. I enjoy all her books but they are always whispering. Why?

Would you try another book from Julie Garwood and/or Anne Flosnik?

I might try another Julie Garwood book, but not with the same narrator. The story was passable and I might have enjoyed it better if I'd found the narration believable. The voice of Duncan was awful and unbelievable and Madelyne sounded like a stuck up spinster.

Bad narration

This book is extremely well written. The author immediately gains your attention and keeps it for the entire book. It is at times funny and always sweet. I heartily recommend this book. It’s well worth the credit.

Thoroughly enjoyable

I struggled with the narrator's performance.
Just couldn't listen to it. Would rather read the book myself.

I love the story...not the narrator.

I stuck with this story because I kept waiting for something exciting or a twist as in other Garwood stories. Unfortunately it never came. Good for an escape, great narration, but disappointing and boring. 😢

Disappointing and boring.
