About this listen

A rip-roaring original prequel novel based on Showtime's Award-winning hit series Homeland

Damascus, Syria, 2009. Carrie Mathison is leading an operation to capture or kill al-Qaeda terrorist Abu Nazir. But arriving at the compound where he was supposed to be in hiding, her team finds it empty. Carrie is sure that someone is leaking CIA information to the enemy and has betrayed their operation, seriously threatening American interests in the Middle East. To expose the double agent, her boss, Saul Berenson, devises an elaborate ruse that will send her on the most dangerous mission of her life.

This twisting tale of international intrigue takes fans deeper into the intense world of high-stakes espionage and explores never-before-seen details of Carrie's life as an operative in the Middle East, Saul's past as an agent in Iran, Brody's dark childhood and captivity, and events involving the trio - and other favorite characters like Dar Adal - that will lead them to the present.

Homeland: Saul’s Game is riveting but

I’m afraid I didn’t enjoy the narrator. I’m an avid Audible listener and have listened to so many in the past year with narrations superior to Ms. Penelope Rawlins. I may be a minority in this view but beauty is the eye of the beholder. One example of her work I found very lacking was her voicing of male characters...

Good Book, Awful Narrator

Would you listen to Homeland: Saul's Game again? Why?

NO. The narrator has an annoying Boston accent, can't pronounce Rs. Very distracting. I would like to get Carrie's Story but can't listen to this narrator again. I'll get the kindle book.

Would you be willing to try another one of Penelope Rawlins’s performances?

Absolutely not.

much better than 1st book

Enjoyed this quite a bit. Much better plot & easier to follow storyline than 1st book but where it really shines over its predecessor is in the performance. The first books attempt at making Carrie sound like a mix of NY, NJ, Boston and Cranston, RI, none of which she lived was painful. Both unnecessary and poorly done. This voice actor was great which made for a much more enjoyable listening experience. Recommended.

Semper Fee?

For a hit tv spin off, this is the best narrator they could find? Aside from the bad voices, she couldn't even pronounce Semper Fi. I felt like screaming every time she said "Semper fee".

Story was good though. The audio producers should hang their heads and apologize.
