Blake Percival
About this listen
This book is the story of whistleblower Blake Percival. In 2011, Blake blew the whistle on the background investigation process of the United States government. Blake’s revelations brought to light serious problems in the review of security clearance investigations during the time when Edward Snowden and Aaron Alexis slipped through the cracks and worked for the US government.
Blake’s decision to do the right thing was easy for him to make but came at a high price. In this audiobook, you’ll hear firsthand who this man is and what was exposed. You’ll learn in detail what he did and how he did it, as he shares intimate details about why someone would go through such a struggle. You’ll hear the inside story of what it took, why he would do it, and what it was like to win in the end.
His story just goes to show that you can do the right thing and win!

Known in health care circles for his ability to fix ailing hospitals, Dr. David Shulkin was originally brought into government by President Obama, in an attempt to save the broken Department of Veterans Affairs. When President Trump made him VA secretary, Dr. Shulkin was as shocked as anyone. Yet this surprise was trivial compared to what Shulkin encountered as the VA secretary: a team of political appointees devoted to stopping anyone - including the secretary himself - who stood in the way of privatizing the organization and implementing their agenda.

Story
When the local iron mine began hiring women in 1975, Lois Jenson, a single mother on welfare, didn't think twice about accepting the grueling but well-paid job. What she hadn't considered was that she was entering a male-dominated society that fiercely resisted the inclusion of women, a prejudice born out in the brutal harassment of every female miner.

Story
Once upon a time. Happily ever after. Such are the classic promises of fairy tales. Yet in Texas we find a twist to the familiar storyline. In If the Devil Had a Wife, there is still the battle of Good vs. Evil, a beautiful maiden, a wealthy suitor, a kingdom of riches and the wicked witch, but any similarity with Cinderella and Snow White ends there. With the help of her life partner and an attorney (always necessary in these modern times), Nelda Stark executes a devious plan that elevates fraud and theft to a new high.

Story
Scientology, created in 1954 by a prolific sci-fi writer named L. Ron Hubbard, claims to be the world's fastest-growing religion, with millions of members around the world and huge financial holdings. Its celebrity believers keep its profile high, and its teams of "volunteer ministers" offer aid at disaster sites such as Haiti and the World Trade Center. But Scientology is also a notably closed faith, harassing journalists and others through litigation and intimidation, even infiltrating the highest levels of government to further its goals.

Dig deep and you will find the most compelling argument for working together: Happiness. In business there are always unique individual achievers, but pull down the veil and you'll often find someone alongside them. Michael Eisner does just that in Working Together. Using his own collaboration with Frank Wells at Disney as a launching point for examining other famously successful partnerships, Eisner offers us an intimate and deeply personal look at some of the most rewarding business partnerships.

It’s never wrong to do the right thing
An important story of faith and doing the right thing, even when doing so means losing all that you have worked for in life. This book provided good insight about what federal whistleblowers go through. We need more people like Mr. Percival in government and public service.
