To Graham’s relief, Mr. Lane is interested in his proposal, but he counters with one of his own. He has business elsewhere, so Anna—whom he trusts with his business affairs—will accompany Graham to Brighton, and if she gives a good report, he will invest.

Both Anna and Graham hesitate. Though they have a passing acquaintance through Anna’s father, the two have never truly gotten along. Anna feels that Graham is only interested in money, while Graham feels that Anna is stubborn and self-absorbed.

The two reluctantly travel to Brighton together, and Anna is determined to find fault with every inch of the seaside town—including Graham. She is tired of feeling like a pawn being moved about by other people’s desires. But while staying at Highcliffe House and seeing the kind and gentle way Graham treats his family, Anna wonders if there is more to her rival than she thought.

But it will take more than a day at the beach for these two headstrong hearts to admit that, if they set aside their misconceptions about each other and be vulnerable enough to share their true selves, they might have a chance at real love.

Wonderful!

I rarely write reviews but thought this book warranted one. This author is new to me and I think she is excellent. I also loved the narration. Each character was developed so nicely and I found myself pulling for each of them. Just a great read.!

Wonderful enemies to lovers

Loved the tension and the eventual realizations about misjudging another because of your own circumstances. Well read as well. Wonderful listen.

Excellent story!

I really enjoyed this story. I loved Graham and Anna and their relationship. I also loved Tabitha and her relationship with Anna and Graham. Megan Walker knows how to tell a story!

Loved this story and the narration

This is now one of my favorite books! Very well written and I loved how it gave perspectives from both people.

A swoon-worthy listen!

Another swoony read from Megan Walker. She is definitely a new favorite, auto-buy author for me.

Highcliffe House takes place along the seaside in Brighton. Graham Everett has been tasked to convince the wealthy, stuck-up Anna Lane that Brighton is a worthy investment for her father. Anna goes along with the plot in order to escape gossip in London and soon finds that Brighton exceeds her expectations, as does Graham.

This was a quick, joyful read. The characters are full of depth and personality. The scenery is described beautifully. A little fun, a lot of swooning, and a little conflict to make the ending that much sweeter.

Megan Walker can do no wrong.

The audiobook is read dual POV by two wonderful narrators. Andrew Fallaize has a soothing voice and doesn’t disrespect the feminine voices. Barrie Kreinik reminded me of a 40s actress with her deep, steady tone.

Swoony Goodness

This was one of the most enjoyable books I’ve read in awhile. It was romantic and swoony in all the right places with just enough angst to heighten those moments without frustrating me to the point of wanting to stop reading. Like the way salty and sweet go together.

The very best kind of enemies-to-lovers story, the author set up the conflict/dislike between the characters adequately without over doing it. The growth from “point a” to “point b” was the main focus of the book. Graham is the kind of self-made, family-focused, big-hearted hero you want to root for. And, while Anna is a bit of a spoiled only child, she is genuine and has more emotional maturity than you expect. And the cast of supporting characters are positively delightful.

Do yourself a favor and read this book!
