About this listen

A forbidden age gap stand-alone from small-town romance author Brooke Montgomery about a daring horse trainer and her off-limits ex-boyfriend’s dad…

When we met at the rodeo, I only knew his first name.

Sparks ignited between us, and we spent an unforgettable night together.
It's not until the morning after when I recognize his last name do I realize who he is.

So I do what any rational woman would and make the walk of shame while he sleeps. It's not like I'll ever see him again or have to explain why I left.

But I'm proven wrong when he shows up at my family's ranch as the new farrier.

We can't be more than friends—for many reasons.
He's twice my age, workplace relationships are off-limits, and he moved back to rebuild a relationship with his son—the one I used to date.

Getting involved would ruin everything.

As we struggle between right and wrong, our connection deepens even though his traumatic past makes him doubt he deserves a second chance.

But it doesn't matter when everything's against us, including a rival who's out to get me and my ex who's determined to win me back.

After a riding trick goes wrong on his watch, he insists on taking care of me. Even though the odds are stacked against us, we keep the truth to ourselves.

But secrets don't stay hidden for long in a Southern small town.

Here With Me is book 1 in the Sugarland Creek series. Contains 20+ year age gap, ex-boyfriend's dad, workplace romance, opposites attract, and secret relationship vibes. Each book in this Southern, small town series is a stand-alone and ends in a happily ever after. Please listen to the content warning before the prologue.

Ticked all my boxes

If you love small town romances with broken hero’s look no further than Fisher and Noah’s heartwarming and at times heartbreaking journey in Here With Me ( Sugarland Creek #1). Brooke Montgomery has shown why she is one of the best authors of small town romances with this one and if this book is anything to go by she will certainly have a hit series on her hands.
Maxine Mitchell and Tor Thom did a wonderful bringing this book to life. They were spot on with the banter and the chemistry and very easy to listen to which made the narration perfect for this great journey.
I fell hard and fast for Fisher, the man trying to reconnect with his adult son only to find out he crossed the line with his son’s ex girlfriend Noah.
I adored the strong and sassy Noah who knows what she wants and normally gets it but what took this book to another level was the camaraderie and loyalty of this family. Ms Montgomery has created a family that is going to give us endless enjoyment and hours of escapism. I loved everything about this book, I was captivated by the witty banter, the sizzling chemistry and the love. A perfect start to a new series that left me excited for what’s to come.

Noah is cheering one of her clients at a Rodeo when she meets this handsome man and spends the best night of her life with him. The next day, sneaking out, she finds out that he is her ex-boyfriend’s dad and ghosts him.

Fisher shows up to his first day of work at Sugarland Creek for his first day of work. Where he finally see Noah, after their awesome night. Noah tells him that she dated his son, but they can’t stay away from each other and see each other is secret, because Fisher came back home to fix his relationship with his son.

The sneaking around, the spice, and the suspense scenes ad sooo good! I absolutely loved this book, and can’t wait for the next one!

Amazing story, narration was not good

I typically love Tor Thom, his deep gravely voice... ugh!!!! It's what romance novels are made of! However, in this book he had this southern accent that gave me second hand embarrassment! The accent was just not good, super cringe and distracting at times. Loved the story!

Amazing story and narration. You can’t go wrong with this book.

I really loved it! She almost got me 3/4 of the way in!! It ended so cute. I can’t wait to read more of this series! Noah and Fisher’s chemistry is hot as HELL. I LOVED that Fisher get his second chance at happiness. I got pretty emotional over his traumatic past. Cried a bit! I LOVE when authors make me cry, so way to go!

I listened to the audio narrated by Tor Thom and Maxine Mitchell. Tor is amazing at a southern accent, I’m totally here for his voice. 🔥 Maxine is always always always amazing. She’s a top favorite narrator for me! Amazing story and narration. You can’t go wrong with this book.

Love these tropes

Overall Thoughts: I did not start the series with this book, I actually listened to Come with me and Fall with Me, so I was aware of Noah and Fisher’s story, and it has all the things that make you want to go back and see what you missed. Age-gap, check. Ex’s Dad, check. Secret relationship, check. Cowboy, check. So many great tropes and micro tropes. Brooke knows how to write a cowboy story you want to read/listen to. Cowboy, Tor Thom is my favorite, and I have never listed to a book narrated by Maxine, I didn’t enjoy. I am loving the hell out of this series.

Narration: Dual narration, first-person present tense, multiple-POV with a some flashbacks.

Tropes: Age-gap, Ex’s dad, secret relationship, cowboy, only girl in the family, tight-knit family, family business, workplace romance, brother’s dislike of ex, he takes care of her, trigger: death of a child as a memory.

Overall: 4.5
Spice: 3
Humor: 2
Drama: 3
Darkness: 2
Narration: 4.5

Noah is the horse trainer on her family’s ranch and is one of the youngest trainers around, and the competition doesn’t like to continue to lose clients to her. At the annual rodeo, she catches a sexy, older cowboy in the stands looking at her. After inviting him to come finder her that evening, the two have one wild night. Noah has not plans of seeing the sexy stranger again, until he shows up as the new ferrier for the ranch.

Not long after she learns he is also her ex’s estranged dad. Between that, the nearly double year age-gap, and that her family has a no fraternization policy, the sneak around for a while, but eventually they call it off before they get in too deep.

When Noah gets hurt, and there is a string of negative events around her farm, Fisher takes extra precautions to keep her safe, and even with those measures, someone is able to cause havoc and destruction and Fisher puts his life in danger to protect a woman he thinks he doesn’t deserve.

Fisher and Noak ❤️

I love Fisher and Noah's love story. Noah's meets Fisher at a rodeo and their chemistry is smokin' hot. Then she finds out who he is. Fisher is determined to do things right and not live with regrets. I enjoyed listening to this book, thought the narrators have great voices but one thing stuck out and was a little odd to me: Tor Thom gave all of the characters an accent (which I expected and loved) but Maxine Mitchell didn't. Other than that, the book was fantastic.

Noah & Fisher

Noah meets Fisher at the Rodeo and after one night together, she finds out Fisher is her ex-boyfriend's father and he is going to start working at her family's ranch. I absolutely loved them together, there was so much sexual tension between them. I loved the forbidden aspect of it and I can't wait for the next book.

I HIGHLY recommend the audio, the narrators did an amazing job. It was soooo good!!
