About this listen

Miss Juliet Adams would be living on the streets if not for the kindness of the dowager Countess of Wyndam. Her father died leaving her penniless and without any prospects. The countess offered her a position as her companion and she leapt at the opportunity. She's content with her life, but she's also no fool. She fully realizes a day may come where she won't have the protection of the countess and then where will that leave her? So she's made plans, concessions, none of which includes love or marriage. Until a certain duke makes her question everything...

Gideon Pryce, the Duke of Sinbrough has led a life filled with the most sinful activities imaginable. There's not much he hasn't done or would consider doing. He lives for all the decadence he can indulge in and as far as he is concerned there isn't enough in the world. Until one day he notices her. The one woman that looks at him like he's nothing. Women usually scramble to be with him, but not Miss Juliet Adams. He decides to make it his mission to change her view of him, and perhaps show her how much pleasure he can give her.

Juliet is not prepared for the Duke of Sin himself taking an interest in her. He threatens every carefully laid plan she makes and he might just be her undoing. That is if she can't instead be his salvation...

Juliet and Gideon

The twelfth book in the Wayward Dukes' Alliance series. Miss Juliet Adams and rake Gideon Pryce, the Duke of Sinbrough's story. Juliet fell on hard times so the dowager Countess of Wyndam took her in as her companion. I enjoyed reading this well written story and seeing it get a happy ending. I enjoyed Emma Riches narrate their story.

Her Duke of Sin!

This is a stand alone read in the "Wayward Dukes' Alliance" series. The book is a fairly short and quick one to read or listen too. This one is about Gideon, the Duke of Sinbrough, and Juliet. The Duke of Sin finally quits his sinful ways and infamous masquerade debauchery balls. When he meets Juliet he is immediately drawn to her. She stuns him and he is mesmerized by her efforts to keep him at bay. She lost everything and luckily was taken in as a Lady's companion by the dowager Countess of Wyndam. She is managing the house party when she runs into the notorious rake Gideon. She can not let herself cave to the temptation of Gideon. I enjoyed this story and really like the characters.

Sin

A sweet novella with insta-love. Juliet’s father dies, and her step-mother inherits forcing her out of the home. Luckily, she find a companion role with a dowager countess. One of her duties is to arrange a house party. One of the invitees is a notorious rake: the Duke of Sinbrough. The Duke falls for Juliet, and takes on the fulltime task of convincing her he loves her. The story is short, sweet, and entertaining. It is well written. The narrator does a good job. Across Classes House Party Romance

Poor companion Juliet and rakish duke Gideon butt heads at her employer’s house party. There is an instant attraction and he keeps talking about her in his bed. He comes off as only interested in an affair at first but the more he learns about her makes him want something more permanent. Their relationship escalates quickly in this novella length steamy historical romance.

I enjoyed the narrator with her British pronunciation and voice changes for each of the characters.

“Call Me Gideon”

If you've read any books in the Wayward Dukes’ Alliance series, you're very familiar with the hero of this story, the Duke of Sinbrough. I believe, though I'm not certain, he's made at least a brief—and memorable—appearance in each book of the series. I'll admit I've wondered what his love story would be. What woman would attract (and keep!) the notorious rogue?

In a delicious bit of irony, she's the daughter of a clergyman! Perfect! While I didn't think the author showed us sufficiently how he fell so hard, so fast once he did, it was utterly charming to watch this romance unfold. It takes place in the forced proximity world of a house party. The heroine is not a guest; rather, she is the companion and secretary of the dowager who owns the manor. Their first meeting was a lot of fun, as she knows of his reputation as the Duke of Sin. I loved his uncomfortableness with her initially, as he has this unexpected attraction and surprising feelings. When he falls, he falls hard. Their interactions were a lot of fun, with witty banter and a romantic cat-and-mouse game.

Even though I enjoy steamy historical romances, that's the only part of the book I wasn't wild about. The book has one intimate scene, which fell flat for me. I was expecting a bit more from the Duke of Sin! The story has a good epilogue—and I love a good victory lap in a romance—showing them blissfully wed after a month of marriage, and it clearly sets up the next book of the series. This is a relatively quick-read or quick-listen novella. For all the build-up the Duke of Sin has had in other books of the series, as well as the more profound—though brief—glimpses into his character in this story, I think this should have been closer to novel length to fully show the Duke of Sin as he was before, how he was ready for change, and why *this* particular woman was the one for him. Still, if you've been curious about the Duke of Sin’s love story, you will probably enjoy this as much as I did.

A Fairy Tale

Juliet Adams lost her home when her father died. The Dowager Countess of Wyndam, an old family friend, took her in and offered her the position as her companion. Juliet is happy with the Dowager. At the Countess’s house party, she meets Gideon Pryce, Duke of Sinbrough, known rightfully as the Duke of Sin. Try as they may, neither can get the other out of their thoughts. In a short time, their surprising attraction turns to love. Can Juliet trust Gideon, and can he convince her he is a changed man? This is an absolutely delectable feel-good story. There is surprise, passion, snarky banter, fun, and romance. The characters are charming and loveable. Emma Riches provides an enjoyable narration.

sin

I enjoyed the narration of Emma Riches

While down on her luck Juliette becomes a companion to a Dowager Duchess. The Dowager treats her like a maid and has her working at all hours. At a house party she meets Gideon who is the Duke of Sinbrough. Gideon is taken with her despite her social standing and flirts with her. Juliette at first rebuffs him because he does have a reputation as a rake.

An abandoned cabin takes the relationship to new levels.

Delightful!

Miss Juliet Adams has had a difficult life and, when her father died leaving her without support, she found her way to the home of the dowager Countess of Wyndam. Without a second thought, she offered Juliet a position as her companion which she gladly accepted. Juliet is a very conscientious worker and everything she does, she does well. The Countess's son is getting married and she asks Juliet to throw him a party. He's so much in love with his intended and how he speaks of her is so sweet. His good friend, Gideon Pryce, the Duke of Sinbrough (Duke of Sin) is aptly named since he's quite the loveable rake and easy on the eyes. He's used to women vying to be with him, but when he notices Juliet Adams, it's over for him. And Juliet is of two minds about this impossibly handsome duke. She sees what all the fuss is, but she's without title and not at all fit for a Duke. Gideon is positively smitten and he uses his "skills" to woo her and Juliet is falling for the man he is underneath it all. I adored this short, sweet and sexy story and fell in love with the Duke of Sin right along with her.
The narration was beautifully done by Emma Riches. Her well-modulated voice with just the right inflection and perfect pace gave each of the characters an individual personality and attitude.
