About this listen

Grumpy Scottish billionaires don't go on holiday.

But if they did....

For most of Laila Diaz’s life, nothing has gone as planned. But now, things are finally looking up. On her last day working for child services, she’s scheduled to deliver an orphaned infant to his new legal guardian…grumpy Scottish billionaire Marcus Campbell.

It’s immediately clear that while Marcus is capable and gorgeous, he’s also in need of a nanny, especially with a family retreat on the horizon. Laila’s out of a job, so he makes her an offer she can't refuse. The seductive billionaire seems almost too perfect, and his smoldering looks have her dreaming of hot kisses under the tropical sun. Too bad he’s her boss….

Marcus has never met a woman as caring, sincere, and beautiful as Laila. There's something special about her…the way she looks at him, touches him, teases him. His icy front is melting. He’s falling and falling hard—for both her and their new addition. Even as they enjoy paradise together, the real world still looms over the three of them, ready to burst their happy bubble.

When the holiday ends, can they can build something new, something that can last? Something more than just a fantasy….

Her Billionaire Boss

Her Billionaire Boss by Leslie North. I thought this story was good. It moved a lot slower than I was expecting as far the romance part (getting to the good stuff). The rest was filled with emotional family drama, swoon worthy vacation, and charming characters with hearts of gold. Once all the pieces fit together- it is smooth sailing for Marc, Laila, and Grayson. I enjoyed this story and would recommend to others. Laila and Marc

Laila's just finished a relationship with a cheating boyfriend only to find that budget cuts mean she's about to lose her job, in fact, her last case for Child Protective Services is to take orphaned six-month-old Grayson to his new guardian. There's just one problem Billionaire Marc Campbell had no idea that both his old friend and his wife had been killed in an accident nor that they had named him as their child's guardian! Marc is about to leave on a six-week cruise to Greece the next morning with his family so caring for little Grayson is not something he's prepared for. What does he know about caring for a bairn? He knows he has to find help immediately so when Laila jokingly offers her services he hires her on the spot. What could possibly go wrong on a private cruise?

It doesn't take long for them to find themselves attracted to each and they grow close but then after weeks of companionship and growing closer to one another, the situation changes when she overhears Marc and his mother discussing his feelings of doubt in his ability to raise Grayson which unfairly, in my opinion, makes her compare him to her cheating ex.

The dynamics of employer and employee have certainly changed but will they realize what's staring them in the face before it's too late? The characters complement each other but will they realise it in time?

The narration by Vincent Keats is well done, I loved Marc's Scottish accent.

Great narration and their accents were spot on

I loved this story! Laila is a child advocate who has been laid off and is completing her last assignment. Delivering an orphan to the Marc, his appointed guardian. Marc is very unsuspecting and is scheduled to leave for a six week cruise with his family. He hires Laila to go with them and care for the baby. The two of them have an instant like and a great story! I also enjoyed the family antics with all of them being on a private yacht together and his meddling mother and aunts were amazing! The narration was really good, I loved Marc’s Scottish accent and how Laila brought out his playful side.

Sweet story

Story: 🌟🌟🌟.5/5
Spice level - 🌶.5/5
Re-read/re-listen: No
Recommend: Yes
Trope: Boss/ Nanny, Force Proximity
Narrator: 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5

Story:
This story was sugary, sweet! It reminded me of a Hallmark movie. (In a good way) It is a nice "pallet cleanser" when you need something easy and sweet. I did lose interest, unfortunately, around the 70% mark. But I stuck with it, and it was cute. I am glad I listened. I think the book just dragged a little too long for me, and I got really annoyed with the FMC. I loved Marc. HE was a sweet guy, a Scottish accent. Yes, please!!!!

Narrator:
Vincent Keats is a new to me narrator, and he did amazing!!! I liked his voice, his narration. The only reason I didn't give his performance a full 5 stars was, nothing to do with the narrator. i think having a dual narrator would have been better, because there were a few times I would forget he was reading the entire book, including the FMC and I would get lost thinking it was still the MMC POV. Other than that, he was awesome. His accent was perfect!!!

Loved the Hero & Narrator, Not the Heroine So Much

I really enjoyed the first part of this book before the required dark moment that splits up the couple temporarily. I loved the hero's crazy family. It is more realistic than most I've read in fiction. Everyone certainly had their own personality, motivations, and place in the family mosaic. I loved the hero. He's not the typical alph-hole you see in billionaire romance. He's more the generous beta hero who tries to take care of everybody. I liked the heroine at first, but her reason for that dark moment that we need to have in romance just wasn't quite enough for me. You’d give up an amazing guy and a baby you adore (not her biological child, the hero's ward) and the instant family you've always wanted…for that?? Perhaps if the hero was more of a true alph-hole, it would have made sense. But he wasn't. Frankly, I think she was too harsh with him, and I don't like to see romantic couples be that way toward each other. Usually, it's the guy who's like that, but not in this book. By the end of the story, I actually wished for a different love match for the sweet and sexy hero, which is never good in a romance. I wanted someone who appreciated him more for who he inherently was, not made to change his perfectly okay character so he could keep the woman he loves.

Despite that I didn't like how the book ended, I absolutely adored the narrator. This audiobook has a single male narrator throughout, but he does a really great job doing the hero's Scottish accent. The narrator sounds American in the non-dialogue parts, but he does a believable (and yummy!) male Scottish accent. His female Scottish accents weren't quite as good; they sounded more like a caricature than the real thing. (I’ve been to Scotland twice, so I am familiar with Scottish accents.) In the first part of the book, his vocal stylings for the hero vaguely reminded me of Sam Heughan’s Jamie Fraser. Even when the narrator spoke with his American accent, it made me think that that would be how Sam Heughan would sound if he attempted an American accent and pitched his voice just a little higher. The narrator alone made this a fun listen. I just wish the story itself was a little better.
