Story
This book - which put Liverpool on the paranormal map - is about ghosts - whatever they are. Every culture has believed in ghosts at one time or another: Buddha trained himself to overcome fear by sitting in a haunted cemetery. Spooky tales are not just a contemporary phenomenon - there are several ghosts mentioned in the Old Testament. In the course of a person's lifetime, the chances of encountering a ghost are surprisingly high.

Story
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a horror story by American author Washington Irving. Written while Irving was living abroad in Birmingham, England, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow was first published in 1820. It is among the earliest examples of American fiction with enduring popularity, especially during Halloween because of a character known as the Headless Horseman believed to be a Hessian soldier who lost his head to a cannonball in battle.

Story
Thirty years ago, cynical sleaze ball director Tito Bronze took a tiny cast and crew to a desolate island. His goal: to exploit the local tribes, spray some guts around, cash in on the gore-spattered 80s Italian cannibal craze. But the pissed-off spirits of the island had other ideas. And before long, guts were squirting behind the scenes, as well.

It has become the most famous classic Christmas story of all, with the miserly figure of Scrooge, the epitome of the callous employer; sadly crippled Tiny Tim; and the three spectres: the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Future. This audiobook continues the award-winning series of Dickens' works read by leading English classical actor Anton Lesser.

Story
The Necronomicon was not the first book by H.P. Lovecraft to terrify readers with tales of dark and twisted horrors from beyond. No, the Al-Azif, or Book of the Insect, is the first work that told mankind of Cthulhu, Azathoth, and other terrors. Indeed, it was the book that inspired "The Mad Arab" Abdul Al-Hazred to write its more famous successor.

Story
In a gloomy cellar, the figure of a beautiful, pale woman makes no move when the man advances on her from the shadows, puts his hands around her neck and strangles her. Arthur Johnson is a mild-mannered, shy man who has never known how to talk to women. His resulting loneliness has twisted his yearning for love and respect into a carefully constructed predilection for violence and control.

Story
One dark, moonlit night, two artists met at the Lake Drummond Hotel, built directly on the borderline of North Carolina and Virginia. One was a young woman with the ability to see spirits trapped in trees and stone, anchored to the earth beyond their years. Her gift was to draw them, and then to set them free. The other was a dark man, haunted by dreams and visions that brought him stories of sadness and pain, trapped in a life between the powers he sensed all around him and a mundane existence attended by failure.

awesome
I found several stories very cute, especially Millie's eight legged puppy and the rhymes about getting married, days, months and colors worn. I found it very interesting. The sound effects were great. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.

Good Collection of Haunting Tales
This was the second Haunted Liverpool book I have listened to and really enjoyed this one a lot more than the other. I think it must have just taken me one book to fully embrace the style Slemen uses in his story telling. Slemen is able to craft some really great stories and they are a lot of fun to listen to. The stories span a wide range of haunted topics, as well as time periods, which makes for a great variety when listening to such a large collection of stories. Overall I would say each story was four or five stars, rounded up to five, didn’t come across any that I didn’t like.
I'm a big fan of Nigel Peever’s full production and am at the point I will listen to anything he narrates just so I can sit back and listen to his excellent narration. As often with Peever’s narration, his many voices makes me think there is more than one narrator and I really enjoy everything that he puts into the different accents, voices, and tones. All the extra sound effects added to the story make it a wonderful listen that is a must to experience.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Strange & Unusual Tales Found Nowhere Else
This is another fascinating entry in the Haunted Liverpool series. There are more stories to delight, terrify and baffle you. Tom Slemen's extensive research brings more great tales you won't find anywhere else. Masterfully told as in his other volumes, it will leave you wanting more. I read this book using immersion reading, while listening to the audiobook. Nigel Peever's wonderful narration and the cool special effects make this a treat to listen to. Enjoy and be sure to check his other Haunted Liverpool titles and the Tales of the Weird.

Haunted Liverpool 18
This is the first in this series that I have listened to and I loved it. The stories were fun and unusual. The narrator was wonderful, he did different voices very well, At time the special effects were just a bit louder than I liked but over all they added to the atmosphere and were just right.
