About this listen

What happens when technology fails and nature bares its teeth?

Lieutenant Callum Harper knows that his team are as tough as they come: nine highly trained men and women and one battle robot who’s 11 feet of pure, cybernetic muscle. But as they drop through the atmosphere of the uncharted planet Capsun 23, Cal can’t shake the feeling that something is off about this mission. Three data drones have previously touched down, but soon after went dark. And now, all communication with a group of civilian researchers has been lost. Intel suspects scavengers are to blame - or at worst, pirates.

But Cal’s instincts are telling him otherwise. All that’s known about Capsun 23 is that the gravity is within acceptable limits, the air is breathable, and water is abundant. Three things to encourage life...but what kind of life? Cal has never been one to back away from a potential fight, but if his instincts are right, a lone team simply won’t cut it. Not by a long shot.

Exhausting action but good

It is after all a military sci-fi. So you can’t expect mysterious intelligent aliens. They land there. Get attacked, kick some butt, yadi yada.

Great start

Excellent narrator with a moving storyline kept me interested in the entire listen. For it to be in the freebie list was surprisingly refreshing.

Suspension of disbelief crash lands

The story idea was interesting and somewhat novel - a planet that looks plausible from a distance, humans touch down and suddenly THERE ARE SNAKES ON THIS PLANE! Unfortunately, the second half goes off the rails, capped by a trainwreck of a finale - where three out of three ships that land and suffer inexplicable and catastrophic equipment failures, two of them crashing, the rescue ship has no such problem. Wait, what?

That after suffering through what seemed like an hour of ridiculous and repetitive battles against larger and larger snakes, that absurd ending is slapped on.

Oh, well.

Well done

The story was entertaining and well told. Good build up and thrilling throughout. Will definitely be reading more of the series and author. Enjoyed the narrator's performance, would gladly listen to other books he does.

Good time killer.

Great audio book to pass the time. The story got to the point fast and stayed there to the end.

This book was pretty 🔥🔥🔥

Good characters
Good narration
The story didn't get stagnant. I'm a mailman so I like a good story that keeps my attention, and keeps me entertained throughout my day(s). This book did just just that so I would recommend.

too bad

I liked the story and the range of the narrators characters but hated the cadence of the story and the narrator sounding out of breath after nearly every sentence. I actually gave back the free with prime book due to this issue 😑

Loved It!

Alex Wyndham is awesome as the narrator and did a tremendous job! There were very likeable and some very unlikeable characters which kept the story interesting. The by-play between the characters was very good as well. All in all, I truly enjoyed this book.
