About this listen

In the Days of the Comet by H. G. Wells, humanity is exalted. A comet changes the world forevermore. Happiness and beauty are our atmosphere; there is peace on Earth and good will to all men.

I saw a gray-haired man, a figure of hale age, sitting at a desk and writing. He seemed to be in a room in a tower very high so that through the tall window on his left, one perceived only distances - a remote horizon of sea, a headland, and that vague haze and glitter in the sunset that many miles away marks a city.

This is marred by error filled narration. Skip this version. It's almost impossible to listen to. Read the Kindle edition.

Provocative combination of novel and tract.

I’ve been enjoying Audible Books during the pandemic, including several HG Wells titles. “In the Days of the Comet” is an okay story and good social commentary. This narration is awful. It’s rushed, with almost no inflection and many errors: repeated sentences and phrases, obvious changes in sittings, background noise. Sounds like it was read at home in a bad acoustic environment and not edited. Disappointing.

OK book, bad narration
