About this listen

Grigori Barinov is the eldest in an ancient line of dragon shifters and the guardian of his family's lands and fortune. Sworn to protect their history and magic, he won't rest until he neutralizes any threat to their existence. When he discovers an ancient manuscript that exposes that his family and their dragon lineage has fallen into a mortal woman's hands, he knows he must get the book back by any means necessary. If that means seducing a nosy American woman with an intoxicating scent, he is more than willing to carry her off to his palatial home deep in the heart of Russia.

Madelyn Haynes has never fit in. As an adopted child, she grew up in a loving home but never felt as though she belonged. Plagued by mysterious dreams she's had of a silver scaled beast ever since she was a little girl, she is convinced dragons are real. While in Russia working on her PhD in mythology, she unexpectedly crosses paths with the sexy and dominating Grigori. Isolated in the Russian wilderness Grigori calls home, Madelyn can't help but fall under his sensual spell, yet something deep inside her calls out that she can't trust him. She has to show the world dragons are real to salvage her academic reputation, even if it means costing her the heart of the dragon she's falling in love with. Contains mature themes.

Serve up one dragon please!

I'm definitely listening to the rest of this series! Got to have more dragons in my life. Lucy Rivers has become the voice of the book. Didn't know at first but it seems like Ms. Rivers voice just became the book. My favorite part was the Thunderbird changing and fighting for her dragon. Wow!

So-so

Story wasn’t bad. It was a little slow going and the innocence factor of Madlyn was a little irritating. The narrator’s voice was leaning towards droning, but I barely made it through mostly because of the awful Russian accent she was using when speaking as the dragon males. It did not work for me and if she had used her regular speaking voice, I would have had a much easier time getting through this book.

this started slow and different than most shifter books. but it turned out to be a great listen. this is the first book i have listened to by Lauren Smith she has the ability to create a great character development within a small space of time. i recommend this book to shifter romance followers.

interesting enough story. HORRIBLE Russian accents

I actually like the narrator, but her Russian male voices leave a lot to be desired.

A slightly different dragon story

I found this Lauren Smith book while browsing thru Audible Escape. I like shifter stories and dragons are a favorite. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next. Lucy Rivers did a nice job with the narration. I especially like the growly dragon tone. Good entertainment.

Narrator...

Great voice and soothing if you want to meditate. I felt like I was listening to a news cast story for 60 minutes while waiting for The Count from Sesame Street to make an appearance. Story is good, but a narrator who reads with feeling would have made it great.

Way too slow. Did not finish.

2.5 hours in and the heroine still struggled with believing that the Grigori was a dragon. Despite her being a great researcher with a scientific mind and her history of dreams, she was unbelievably staunch in her dismissal of that possibility.....so much so, it made her sound dense. Just couldn't finish.
