I love reading backstories!

This is a short book that tells the backstory of Greco. Some of the story is a little far-fetched, but it is still enjoyable. I always like supplemental stories that tell the backstories of different characters. I actually hope there are more to come. I don't know if you would enjoy this story unless you're reading the rest of the series. But I happen to be reading the whole series, so I found it enjoyable. I listened to the Audible audio version of this book, and the narration was probably the best I've heard from David Dietz. Overall, a fun book in a fun series, worth checking out.

What a fun experience!

What made the experience of listening to Greco the most enjoyable?

I loved being able to share this story with my daughter! We listened to it together while waiting for her brothers to be done with their activities. I'd read the book version and my daughter wanted to read it, but then I had the opportunity to get the audio version. It was so well done, and smoothly read. I'm excited to listen to the first of the series, Cross Fire, next (another one I own in book form, but we do a lot of cross-state driving and this will be perfect!)

What was one of the most memorable moments of Greco?

There were many scenes that were beautiful-- action packed, tense, or sweet. I don't like doing spoilers, so I'm going to be vague, but one of my favorite bits was finding out why someone was doing what they were doing because, at first, I was thinking, "how evil," but then it was explained in a way that garnered sympathy. Well written! And it was so sad, painful almost, to learn about Greco's past.

What does David Dietz bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Oh my goodness! I read books out loud to my kids all the time, and we listen to tons of audio books on our trips. Mr. Dietz can save my vocal chords! It was enjoyable to hear his different voices and accents and interpretations of the scenes.

Any additional comments?

Well done over all-- super story and well read!

* I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Listeners were introduced to Greco in CROSSFIRE - Book One of the series. Greco is Mirissa's protector and her trainer.

Not much is revealed about his background in the first book, but there are hints given that his childhood was anything but idyllic.

In fact, his mother treated him like an unwanted stray dog that she was stuck with. Her drinking only escalated the abuse and Greco has not seen or spoken to her in a very long time.

He is very private. He does not often tell people about the abuse he suffered at the hands if his mother. So, when word comes that Greco's mother has been abducted, he is given the job of tracking her down.

"Ruthless mercenaries, inept crooks, and deeply buried secrets abound while Greco and Mirissa push their relationship to the brink in their search for answers."

"In this novella sequel to Crossfire, the mysteries of Greco's past are revealed, and his biggest mistake threatens to destroy his future."

This audiobook is very well written and performed. I am glad that the author chose to use a male narrator to tell Greco's story. I do not think it would have had the same impact if it was narrated by a woman.

David Dietz has the ability to pull his listeners into the story and to ensure that they keep listening. His pacing is perfect and his suspense building skills are second to none. I rate the narration as 5 out of 5 stars.

While the first book focused mostly on Mirissa and on building the plot, this book was much more personal. It does have a terrific mystery that must be solved, but it is the character development and the emotional aspects that make this audiobook a five star listening experience.

I rate this audiobook as 5 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

There’s some action, mystery and stage setting

Greco is the son of an Amazon warrior, one with a drinking problem.  Mirissa is also preternatural and an Amazon with some intense powers.  Together they must find Greco’s mother who has vanished.

Greco is cold, silent and not responsive to Mirissa or anyone else for that matter.  However, at the end of the book it is revealed how deeply Greco struggled with his childhood and the havoc he created.   He is forced to deal with the outcome as is everyone he loves.

It is a very short audio but it summed up the issue, what their goal was and how they rectified in the hour and half audio.  The author, Andrea Domanski, succinctly prepared her listeners for the series and demonstrated clearly the personalities of everyone involved.

There’s some action, mystery and stage setting for the series.  It was a bit too short; I would like to hear Crossfire so I can decide how this audio really fits into the series.

The narrator, David Dietz, did a good job with narration.

The production was ok but sounded like there was a tunnel like feel.  While a bit distracting at first, I became used to it.

Audiobook was provided for review by the narrator.

Sidelined

There wasn't enough time to put any depth into this particular side story. The author(speaker) didn't give his characters any depth, and he sounded ridiculous trying to portray the women. Overall though, it was a touching story of a repentant son, and mother too. It would have been nice to build the story up to where we were thinking about" Hey, why did Miranda's mom have to leave, but before we could even wonder about that question, it was answer! It will be intetesting to see how the speaker's can unfold the story!
