About this listen

As one of the four forces we currently recognize in the Standard Model, gravity - although relatively weak - is trump card. It is the key to everything. Yet, despite all of this, our knowledge of gravity is incomplete. For example, where does this force come from? How does gravity propagate between objects? Do gravitons really exist? If so, why haven't we identified these hypothetical particles yet? How does gravity relate to space and time? Is gravity stronger in other (hidden) dimensions?

This essay takes a look at what is known about gravity and contains references to other work on this topic.

DO NOT BUY (seriously)

This voice actor is an insult to all things intelligent. The reader sounds like she is reading a dramatic play. I read terrible reviews about the reader but ignored them. Don't be me.
I was drooling by the end of this book and I don't think I absorbed any information. I'm still not sure what the content of this book was as the reader was nearly inaudible.
Very disappointing for audible.

Ugh - so bad!

All I could think while listening to the narrators southern accent from the 1800s was ‘I can’t wait to warn others to stay away.’ (Seriously- play a sample and you’ll stay away - Gone with the Wind voice) She even tried to make some parts sultry - it was like the author asked a friend of theirs to do it in this voice as a joke.

As for the content, if you know nothing about gravity, it would be an OK primer (think of what a high school senior would write if given an encyclopedia and was forced to write at least 50 pages...he just barfed up what he read with zero insight).

Entertaining Gravity Information

If you could sum up Gravity in three words, what would they be?

Interesting, Informational, Entertaining

What was one of the most memorable moments of Gravity?

I enjoyed the information about the moon and gravity's effect on it and the earth.

Have you listened to any of Irene Dipty’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to other performances by Irene. This one is done with a southern drawl, which seemed unexpected to me for a scientific subject. The different accent made it more entertaining and attention grabbing. It fit well with the subject matter since there are scattered throughout the book several humorous comments.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I had to chuckle at some of the humorous comments throughout the book. I hadn't expected the subject of gravity to have so much humor in it.
