Acerca de esta escucha

"We were as brothers," William Tecumseh Sherman said, describing his relationship with Ulysses S. Grant. They were incontestably two of the most important figures in the Civil War, but until now there has been no book about their victorious partnership and the deep friendship that made it possible.

Heeding the call to save the Union, each struggled past political hurdles to join the war effort. Taking each other's measure at the Battle of Shiloh, they began their unique collaboration. Often together under fire on the war's great battlefields, they shared the demands of family life, the heartache of loss, and supported each other in the face of mudslinging by the press and politicians. Their growing mutual admiration and trust set the stage for the crucial final year of the war and the peace that would follow.

Moving and elegantly written, Grant and Sherman is a fascinating portrait of two men whose friendship, forged on the battlefield, would win the Civil War.

"A solid book." (Publishers Weekly)
"Flood's overarching theme of Grant and Sherman's friendship, born in fire, is...a worthy contribution to Civil War literature." (Kirkus Reviews)

Too shallow. Could have been twice the length. Not enough meat. It does whet the appetite for a more substantial biography.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Enjoyed the information & perspective of Grant & Sherman's relationship. Offputting was the narration by the author who doesn't have the voice or acting ability to make the story compelling.

Do you think Grant and Sherman needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Maybe a book on the impact their strategies have had on military studies since.

Very interesting description of the friendship between Grant and Sherman during the Civil War, and their key roles in winning the war. Charles Bracelen Flood has attempted to explore this unique relationship in "Grant and Sherman: The Friendship that Won the Civil War." Beginning with their backgrounds, he shows their similarities. He then goes on to demonstrate the growing trust between the two generals during the early years of the war.

Floods books bring forth the truth about these men, no matter what side of the war. He presents the human side as well as the war.

An exceptional author who researches thoroughly and writes exceptionally.

A must for any Civil War book collection.

This book is clearly written and incisive with lots of great historical details. Flood really brings out the friendship between Sherman and Grant. He is also a surprisingly great narrator. I highly recommend this book.

Superb History

The book is informtive and flows nicely, delivering lots of interesting tidbits about the two generals.

However, author/narrator Mr Flood's bouncing between corrctly pronouncing cavalry and calvary was highly distracting. Big difference in the meanings of both words.

Otherwise an exellent listen.

Awesome! A must read for history buffs. It's just a great, true story! My only hesitation is that they abridged the whole battle of Chattanooga/Lookout Mountain. Flood has written a book with excellent research and great story telling! I'm looking forward to getting his other books.

Great book! Great listen!
