Loved it. I found it difficult to stop listening! Ms Bond is so funny but with a touch of gritty. Love her stories.

So funny and gripping

The male characters in this book sounded more like breathy feminine seductresses, rather than men. Also, the narrator did not pronounce Biloxi like the locals do. If the character is from a town, at least that character should say the name of that town like locals actually pronounce it. Phonetically it is Biluxi, not Bilocksi...

Awful narration

I was surprised to enjoy this novel so much. I like the author but had only read her body moving series. This was refreshing! Great plot, twist and turns to the very end and a sweet romance too. Must read.

A very enjoyable listen with an awesome twist!

I don’t like it when the narrator adds her own inflections to the story and the meaning is different than what I’m sure the author intended.

Pretty good character development.

the book was cute but I could not enjoy it as much as I wanted to because of The Voice of Capistrano it gave me images of a little short fat twit instead of a dice handsome guy that he was portrayed to be did you all not listen to the way that voice came across for heaven sakes

My rating may be a little too critical considering I have read other books by Stephanie Bond and loved them. This book is like a bad crossover episode of MTV’s Daria meets HBO’s Sex and the City with none of the female characters being very likable. Honestly the author did not due any of the women justice in the likability department in this book. The romance is debatable in this book and the mystery(ies) are all over the map.

Roxann and Joe have no chemistry and she is basically a complete bitch to him throughout the entire book while Angora and Mike were too obvious that I never really got invested in it. Honestly my biggest issue with this book is the use of the effect of years of mental abuse on a character as the source of most of the humor in this book.

The narrator was okay. She gave the big burly cop Joe the voice of a nasally teenage boy and even though Roxann and Angora had different speaking voices – the narrator didn’t let the characters keep the voices for their inner monologues. She instead used her narrator’s voice for those which became confusing.

I know this a quick sloppy review, but I got nothing left to really say.

Other books by this author are much better

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I like stephanie bond but this book was not funny. OK story line but disappointed

NOT FUNNY

Predictable story, flat characters and not a great narrator. In fairness, I listened to David Copperfield just prior to this book so anything other than a classic would most likely have been a disappointment but this was bad.

Meh
