About this listen

Good-bye, Orchid asks, "Can love blossom after life changes in an instant?"

One July morning in Manhattan, handsome athlete and CEO Phoenix Walker accompanies his love, half-Asian beauty Orchid Paige, to the airport. Neither believes today is good-bye.

But soon after Orchid leaves, disaster strikes.

Phoenix wakes in the hospital, broken, forever changed.

Now, he’s faced with the hardest decision of his life. Does he burden the woman whose traumatic childhood makes him feel protective of her? Or does true love mean having to say good-bye, Orchid?

Rising from ashes is hard. Leaving the one you love is harder.

For fans of Me Before You and The Fault in Our Stars, Goodbye, Orchid asks: “What choice does a wounded hero have when loving his woman means breaking his own heart?”

I listened to this audiobook and it was an amazing experience. I've never listened to an audiobook where the author narrated the book. She wrote Phoenix and Orchid's story with such raw and realistic emotion. The world building was just right while the characters were well-developed with believable growth. Everything they went through gutted my emotions but I followed each event with rapt attention. The narration was easy to follow and portrayed the emotion felt while she wrote the story. For a debut novel, she blew me away. I highly recommend this read. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

GoodBye, Orchid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Goodbye Orchid
Carol Van Den Hende
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was given an Audiobook of Goodbye Orchid for my honest review. Our paths crossed on Facebook and I am thankful for discovering a talent author! This book is narrated by the author which I really enjoyed. Her voice is soothing and she was able to really show emotion as the book deals with a tragic accident! I was immediately drawn to the storyline. Orchid and Phoenix are in a good place- they are falling in love - Orchid is leaving a trip for work to China. She will be away six weeks but is looking forward to her reunion with Phoenix. Phoenix’s life will take a tragic turn - it appears to him that a man is too close to the tracks in a subway he lunges to help and the next thing he is being hit by a train....His life will forever be changed and he decides that Orchid will not be able to be a part of his new life. I felt a deep connection to the characters and I was heartbroken for Orchid who thinks she has been ghosted by Phoenix. Orchid hasn’t had the easiest life, she lost both of her parents and feels so alone. Phoenix is angry and trying to figure out how to go on as such a wounded and broken man. You will fall in love with both Orchid and Phoenix!!! Put this 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ book on your to be read shelf!! Looking forward to reading more books by Carol Van Den Hende

A love story for all of us

I don’t read love stories. Never been my genre but I did and what a cinematic ride this was- with pitch perfect description, those vividly drawn scenes, the characters coming alive off the page. Carol does a phenomenal job of taking the reader along both in the incredible wave of the character’s lives but her descriptions of commerce, culture were possibly my favorite sections of the book- I was there the whole way, traveling.

A captivating tale!

"Goodbye Orchid" is so much more than just a love story. It's about learning to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges, and discovering how to accept oneself despite the lies we sometimes tell ourselves about not being worthy of love. Inspirational and heartfelt, you will find yourself rooting for the characters all the way through to the end. Highly recommended!!

Goodbye, Orchid audiobook review

Carol captured the feel of the story as well as every character! While the book itself brings the story to life, Carol further brings forth the fullness of life from this initially tragic, but overall powerful and uplifting story with her beautiful reading! What a pleasure to listen to and easy to follow!

Roller coaster ride of emotions Top read of 2020

This story will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions. I was pulled in from the beginning and didn't want to put it down. I felt what the characters felt. This is so much more then a second chance romance. It delves into traumatic injuries and how life takes a turn when it happens.

This is definitely in my top reads for the year! Grab a copy today whether you read ebooks, paperbacks or listen to audiobooks. It's available in all formats.
