About this listen

Robin's New Year's resolution to change her eating habits is as unusual as she is. Unlike millions of other women, she isn't tempted by chocolate or junk food. She's a vampire, determined to fight her craving for a pint of O negative.

When she goes to an AA meeting, hoping for advice on fighting her addiction, she meets Alana, a woman who battles her own demons.

Despite their determination not to get involved, the attraction is undeniable.

Is it just bloodlust that makes Robin think Alana looks good enough to eat, or is it something more? Will it even matter once Alana finds out who Robin really is?

... in the best way! I love how a good fanfiction reads sometimes. it feels a bit dramatized than normal stories, but sometimes that drama just smacks.
The story started off strong, then once the conflict got rolling, it felt like the author stumbled. The story really pulled me in at the start, and I loved the energy (haha) between the two characters. The climax of their relationship almost felt like it could have even the end of a feels good story, but the algorithm always needs a conflict. It felt hastily written to me. That being said, it still didnt turn me off and I finished it happily. I've read some of Jae's other works and I am quite in love with a number of them!
I also need to applaud the reader. that voice for Allana's friend was to die for. use it again in the future pls

Felt like a fanfiction

First scene is a very stereotypical first time 12 step meeting...with every experience having a completely different meaning than usual. That first scene by itself make me laugh enough for the credit to be worth it.
Otherwise, it's a fun story, interesting enough to keep you going and with a positive ending. Usual wlw romance fare with above average writing.

At first I wasn’t sure if I’d like a story about a vampire not wanting to drink blood from people anymore, but this was such a sweet little adventure that I just couldn’t stop. It ruined my sleep schedule, and I’m not even mad.

So Sweet

A cute and romantic story, with some more serious themes like addiction and the pressure of familial expectations.
The struggle that the vampire character goes through with her family is a clear allegory for the struggle that many gay people endure when coming out to family or church, especially conservative and insular church groups that enforce cutting ties with ex-members, only with 100% more vampires.

Romance and allegory
