#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • THE BLOCKBUSTER JACK REACHER SERIES THAT INSPIRED TWO MAJOR MOTION PICTURES AND THE STREAMING SERIES REACHER

“High-powered, intricately wrought suspense.”—Janet Maslin, The New York Times

New York City. Two in the morning. A subway car heading uptown. Jack Reacher, plus five other passengers. Four are okay. The fifth isn’t. And if you think Reacher isn’t going to get involved . . . then you don’t know Jack.

Susan Mark, the fifth passenger, had a big secret, and her plain little life was being watched in Washington, and California, and Afghanistan—by dozens of people with one thing in common: They’re all lying to Reacher. A little. A lot. Or just enough to get him killed. A race has begun through the streets of Manhattan, a maze crowded with violent, skilled soldiers on all sides of a shadow war. For Jack Reacher, a man who trusts no one and likes it that way, the finish line comes when you finally get face-to-face and look your worst enemy in the eye.

“Propulsive . . . [Child is] an expert at ratcheting up tension.”—Los Angeles Times

“Hold on tight. . . . This novel will give you whiplash as you rabidly turn pages. . . . May be [Lee Child’s] best.”—USA Today

Reseñas de la Crítica

“The ever-resourceful and vengeful Reacher takes on nearly a score of the bad guys in an exciting climax to an enthralling book . . . complete with cover-ups and numerous intriguing twists.”Library Journal (starred review)

“A superb New York novel . . . Child grounds his hero’s hard body and hard-drive brain in believable detail, and he sets the action against a precisely described landscape.”Booklist (starred review)

“All good thriller writers know how to build suspense and keep the pages turning, but only better ones deliver tight plots as well, and only the best allow the reader to match wits with both the hero and the author. Bestseller Child does all of that in spades. . . . [He] sets things up subtly and ingeniously, then lets Reacher use both strength and guile to find his way to the exciting climax.”Publishers Weekly (starred review)

After hating the last novel, Nothing to Lose, Reacher is back in this novel; well at least he's closer to his old self. I liked the story and narration and the action was first rate. Give me more of this!

The old Reacher is back

If you could sum up Gone Tomorrow in three words, what would they be?

Good characters with their own motivations and initiatives

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoy Jack's sense of humor. I look forward to the detective analysis and of course, the fight scenes.

What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Dick Hill captures Reacher and over time has created an identifiable persona.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Sometimes your friends become enemies

Any additional comments?

I'll start with a light rant. It irritates me that 97% of writers introduce characters with the tacit assumption that the character is white unless they use a non-white person for flavor. We read about Pakistani cab drivers, latina waitresses, black police officers, etc. All other characters are just Bob or Mary. I'll chalk it up to being lazy writers.I noticed in his first Reacher novel, that Child is not a lazy writer. Every character that drives action has a personality and a motivation for acting. Most of the time Child identifies the character as a white, asian, central american, etc person. He recognizes that all people from central asia do not look the same and that some american black people have fair complexions while others vary in gradations that he takes time to describe. His writing is filled with texture. I like that is characters aren't just in a room, the room has identifiable characteristics from the flooring to the lighting. He is a good writer. I enjoy his work.

I'm a fan of Lee Child's work

This is my first Lee Child novel. I felt it was a good read, very movie-like and I might pick up another book in the series soon. But this book did not impact my life in any meaningful way.

Not a life-changing read but very entertaining!

Top 3 out of all the Jack Reacher books, I loved the concept the twist & turns within this book & the ending. The dialogue between a few of the main characters were well written, the common commissioned officers versus NCO's was a humorous sidebar & unlike many of the Reacher books u are pretty sure of the enemy but even the enemy has a believable story for a few chapters

There are a couple parts involving NYC subways that are a bit crazy, being from NY, but I'm willing to suspend my disbelief for the fun of making other alphabet letter government agencies look like a joke lol...

Highly recommend this book, he doesn't deal with country hicks, or bribed officials/authority, etc... this is just an overall great book that hits the bulls-eye of what Reacher is all about

ONE OF REACHER's BEST

very good. love Reacher. Lee Child is my favorite. Dick Hill makes Reacher come alive. All and all..... excellent.
As far as the 2 movies starring Tom Cruise. Not good. Tom Cruise is no Jack Reacher. Wrong temperment. Wrong size too. Reacher is 6'6" 250. What is Cruise...5'7" 175. Not even close. Cast someone else and dont ruin any more of Lee Childs great stories.

great
