About this listen
Learn the truth of the secret war in space with both the Soviets and dark technomancers bent on world domination in Gods in Darkness. Thrill to incredible truths buried in the sands of ages or in our own Area 51 in The Dig. Ride along with some crazed truckers dealing with Lovecraftian horrors in At the Highways of Madness. Know the stark terror of reading a forbidden book of the damned when the stars are not right. Love knows no bounds through time and space--especially for one of Lovecraft's Elder Things in The Queen in Shadow. And finally, go beyond the past and future in The Sleepers of Tartarus. All these and more lurk at the edge of reason waiting to pounce.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

Story
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Story
In the not-too-distant future, a 21-member crew launches from Earth. Their mission: to establish a temporary colony on Mars. Little do they know that colony will become permanent–and the last stand of the human race. Because, without warning, every single person left on Earth simply...vanishes. Now, a thousand years later, the resources needed to sustain life are running out, and the very existence of the Mars colony is threatened. Humankind has only one option–to return to its home planet.

It takes guys as simple as the Squid and Ogre to make a story this complicated... and they’d really rather be trucking.Good old boys, the Squid and Ogre are trucking cross country when a UFO crashes right in front of them. Against his better judgment, the Squid lets Ogre load it onto his flatbed, then the feds in black helicopters show up.Life gets a whole lot weirder when they find themselves on the run not only from the law but also from every manner of Lovecraftian horror imaginable. To top it off they also get a beautiful stowaway, named Shaurna, who may not be from their own universe...

Difficult to listen to
I found this title fairly difficult to listen to for two very different reasons. Firstly, the AI narration really missed the mark on inflections and annunciation of the text. It was jarring at times pulling you right out of the story. Parts were just fine but others were very robotic and it reminds the listeners the narrator is a glorified Speak-&-Spell. The other challenge was some very ham-fisted attempt of sneaking in song lyrics ir pop culture references every few minutes. I found myself rolling my eyes after a time instead of enjoying them like Easter Eggs.

Great Writing, Weak Performance
Great stories. I really enjoyed three of them, and liked the others. The generated voice was emotionless, and that really took you out of it at times though. They should do this over with a voice actor.
