Enjoyed the story

A good storyline. Especially if you are an "X-files" follower. Recommend for light reading. Nothing deep.

great episode!

I found this thoroughly enjoyable. The novel manages to feel just like an episode of the television show. It kind of has a five-act structure where you can imagine the commercial breaks happen. The plot isn't fast-paced and the story is fun. It's interesting with a few twists and turns but not too many to ridiculously overcomplicate it. in short, if you like the x-files, especially early season episodes, you will like this book.

A Nostalgic Journey

I read a bunch of these back in the day but it has been so long that even through this is a reread I didn't remember any of the plot so it was like hearing it for the first time. I greatly enjoyed the tv show when it was on and I especially love Mulder and Scully and their partnership/friendship/relationship. This book doesn't quite encapsulate all that the show manages to. The writing felt stilted and the interplay between Mulder & Scully was not as well done as I am used to but having said that it was still a good case story. Plus getting to spend more time with one of my favorite duos is always a bonus.

Great Story Overall!!!!

I loved this book somewhat overall I won't listen to it again thereis just too many cuss words in this book and they always say the GD phrase way too much it really offends me and hurts my ears because I'm a Believer in Jesus Christ and I don't believe it's right to say the Lord's name in vain so many times. they just did it too many times for no reason at all. Other than that the storyline was great just like a good old-fashioned X-Files episode. I just wish they would do a narrator for the guy parks and a narrator for the girl parts so that way we could have a female for Scully and a male for Mulder

About average

The premise of the book starts out like an x-file but quickly loses the "x-file" feel. Mixed with worthless extra characters and a few missteps in the characterization of Mulder and Scully only gives the book an "okay" rating. The performance wasn't terrible but nothing to write home about either.

Government Experiment Gone Awry

This is a familiar tale for fans of X-Files as Scully and Mulder are off to New Jersey to investigate a murder. What makes it an X Files is a local resident insisting it is the work of a goblin. Through their work, our duo finds a military tie in that ultimately is at the heart of it all.

This is an okay X Files entry which I found overlong at six plus hours. It would have been much better condensed and part of the anthology X Files series which showcases multiple authors works in a novella format. I have listened to two of three in that series on X Files and found them much more entertaining. As far as the narration, I found nothing to complain about Mr. Lawlor, it was the story itself that dragged on and on.

4.25

Narrated by Patrick Lawlor
Run Time: 6 hrs and 31 mins
Summary:
A man gets his throat slashed by an invisible enemy, and the only witness is a drunk. Another woman swears the attacker is a goblin. Mulder is a little reluctant to hop on the investigative bandwagon, especially now that he’s saddled with a rookie agent and an interdepartmental loaner agent. He thinks the case is too normal for him, but somebody high up pulls a string and gets him assigned to the case anyway.

Additional Comments:
- Mulder and Scully and two others are sent to New Jersey to investigate a brutal murder
- I’ve been on a kick to hear X-files books. This is one of my favorites of the lot so far. They’re all good in different ways.
- I may also be partial to this one because it’s set in NJ near Fort Dix.
- I love how most of them skirt the edge of possibility. They come in a few flavors. This one falls on the government conspiracies side, rather than the horror or straight up paranormal.
- Of the ones I’ve heard thus far, I think this is probably the most plausible so far. (Just finished Ground Zero, Whirlwind, and Ruins recently.)
- I don’t remember everything, but the plot moved along at a steady pace. The end twist was reasonably satisfying.
- Patrick Lawlor captures Mulder and Scully and their dynamic pretty well.

Conclusion:
If you loved the show, you might like this series.

Love for xfiles. But…

I love the xfiles.

The story was pretty okay. But didn’t really hit the mark for an xfiles fan.

Performance was a little better than the book.

Overall enjoyed it tho.
