Fergus Ferguson, professional finder, always knew his semi-voluntary exile wouldn’t last, but he isn’t expecting a friend to betray him. One of the galaxy’s most dangerous space pirates, Bas Belos, wants him, and what Belos wants, he gets. Belos needs help finding out what happened to his twin sister, who mysteriously disappeared at the edges of space years ago, and he makes Fergus an offer he can’t refuse.
Mysterious disappearances and impossible answers are Fergus’s specialties. After he reluctantly joins Belos and his crew aboard the pirate ship Sidewider, he discovers that Belos is being tracked by the Alliance. Seeking to stay one step ahead of the Alliance, Fergus and Belos find themselves marooned in the middle of the Gap between spiral arms of our galaxy, dangerously near hostile alien territory, and with an Alliance ship in hot pursuit.
That’s just the beginning of the complications for Fergus’ newest—and possibly last—job. The puzzle is much bigger than just Belos’s lost sister, and the question of his future, retirement or not, depends on his ability to negotiate a path between aliens, criminals, and the most powerful military force he’s ever encountered. The future of entire planets hangs in the balance, and it remains to be seen if it’s too big for one determined man and his cranky cat.

I wish it wouldn't end.
I know it's supposed to be the final book in the series. But I cant help but hope the author will tell us that she was just yanking out chain. Before I knew it the book was over and I still have so many questions.

Book 4 was fantastic. Space pirates, does it get better? I certainly hope she writes more in this series but this was strong finish. Love me some Fergus

Unbelievably amazing story!
This series is amazing and never seems to get old I find myself coming back to it and listening from start to finish time and time again. This installment did not disappoint. The narration, starting right from where the last ended, and amazingly filled in back stories were such a Joy! An absolute must listen do not hesitate to get the entire series at once you will not be disappointed. I was very worried about this particular book ending differently, but the surprise ending made me so very happy. Thank you Ms. Susan Palmer for the hours of wonder, please keep your journey going can’t wait to see what’s next!

Great capstone to a great series
A fast paced adventure where planning and audacity take center stage rather than high tech weaponry. I’ve enjoyed the whole of the Finder series and would happily read more, but if the adventures of Feargus end here, it is a very satisfying way to wrap his story.

Imaginative
A seller finale to Ferg's hijinks. Some hard SF aspects, with some truly creative alien culture. Crying through the whole last chapter.

Fitting conclusion to the story
Love this series and the final installment did not disappoint in the slightest! I’ve heard Palmer is cooking up more stories in this universe and I await them eagerly.

Great Series!
This was definitely a case of "couldn't wait to read/listen and didn't want it to finish"! I read predominantly female authors and I'm always delighted when I find one who writes such layered male protagonists who aren't romantically driven. Much like Martha Wells' Murderbot, Fergus feels deeply for his friends and family as he adventures. The humor was spot on as well. I could follow Fergus (and Mr. Feeves!!) around for another 10 books!!!

wonderful addition
another perfect scifi adventure. please keep these coming forever. Seriously if you ever retire from this series I won't be able to cope

I hope there’s another in the series!
This was my favorite book in the series! I could hardly put it down and was sad to have it end, but hopeful that Ms Palmer continues to add more books to the series!
