About this listen
Future Tense, the sequel to Time Will Tell, picks up the story 20 years later in 2022. The blue-collar world of Vito, the youngest son of Clem Rizzoli, is turned upside down when he learns of his father's top-secret, heroic past. The revelations lead him to meet and team up with Victoria, a CIA operative with a pair of extraordinarily gifted teenage twins. Vito impulsively adopts siblings with terminal cancer. These children are granted special powers, too, by the Defender when he returns to Earth to correct his mistake of years earlier. Together, they all fight a corrupted Russia, rogue nuclear threats, an impending Ice Age, and the return of evil aliens bent on Earth's enslavement.

Story
In what is considered one of Heinlein's most hair-raising, thought-provoking, and outrageous adventures, the master of modern science fiction tells the strange story of an even stranger world. It is 21st-century Luna, a harsh penal colony where a revolt is plotted between a bashful computer and a ragtag collection of maverick humans, a revolt that goes beautifully until the inevitable happens. But that's the problem with the inevitable: it always happens.

Along the way, Russo befriended Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando. Russo had passionate affairs with Marilyn Monroe and Liza Minelli....

The story follows the trail of government research past the Manhattan Project and pulls that team of famous physicists to work on Project Rainbow, an outgrowth of secret research during World War II. Real history and real science make this story compelling and not easily dismissed even by UFO reports' most cynical critics. The evidence eventually leads to answer the big questions: what brought the visitors, why have they stayed, what do they want?

Story
When a US airdrop of billions of dollars disappears in the desert sands of Syria, only a small group of military operatives knows its ultimate destination or why it has been stolen. Their goal is no less than the restoration of America’s geopolitical dominance on the global stage. Essential to this scheme are Greta Webb, a sophisticated CIA operative who is an expert on dark money, not to mention lethally skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and Elias Vicker, the damaged, dangerous soul who runs the world’s largest hedge fund.

A thoughtful & fun, modern-day sci-fi adventure!
Despite my tastes in audiobooks having become quite specific and scrutinizing over the past few years, I nonetheless really enjoyed this book! It's a very well-written story with interesting characters and absolutely excellent narration! It held my attention and interest pretty much right from the start. I'll certainly be looking out for more works by this author!

A Great Listen
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. I enjoyed this book so much when I was listening to it in the car that I missed my exit! The book was filled with action and adventure---and it was skillfully narrated.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Future Tense?
When Vito rescued the remaining souls from the planet Saskia by entering another dimension.
Which scene was your favorite?
Same as above.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes, see first entry.
Any additional comments?
No.

Fabulous creativity
Would you consider the audio edition of Future Tense to be better than the print version?
I like all three formats of books: audio, paperback and Kindle. That said, I prefer audio books nowadays as I have more to do and less time to do it.
What did you like best about this story?
Future Tense takes place in the near future . The combination of a possible future with a fantasy element worked together beautifully and I liked being given a glimpse of a world which I may come to experience, myself. I've read all three books in Eddie Upnick's trilogy ( Future Tense being book 2 ). The trilogy tells an amazing story over the course of several generations. The fast paced action will keep all readers interested in every word.
Which scene was your favorite?
So many, it's hard to choose. However, Jake opening the Galactic Book of Knowledge, and Vito's "High Noon" moment with a Kraz killer in central Africa were my favorites..
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The kids - Jake and Lola - being so serene when they were threatened by the Russian surgeon who was about to operate on their brains and their rescue.
Any additional comments?
Future Tense is a fast and entertaining read. My family felt these books would make amazing graphic novels. I see four movies in these three books.

A generational continuation of Time Will Tell
Once again Eddie Upnick has created a great read. Just like “Time Will Tell”, this is a fast paced story. This is a generational continuation of that book.
The only time travel in Future Tense is the mention of the travelling done in Time Will Tell. This is a well done continuation of time from the events of the prior story. Obviously this is not our future even though the timeline created in Time Will Tell closely resembled our history. The aliens play an important role in this book and therefore in this timeline.
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
