About this listen

Demigods Nico di Angelo and Will Solace must endure the terrors of Tartarus to rescue an old friend in this thrilling adventure co-written by New York Times #1 best-selling author Rick Riordan and award-winning author Mark Oshiro.

Percy Jackson fans, rejoice! Nico and Will have a book of their own!

As the son of Hades, Nico di Angelo has been through so much, from the premature deaths of his mother and sister, to being outed against his will, to losing his friend Jason during the trials of Apollo. But there is a ray of sunshine in his life—literally: his boyfriend, Will Solace, the son of Apollo. Together the two demigods can overcome any obstacle or foe. At least, that's been the case so far . . .

Now Nico is being plagued by a voice calling out to him from Tartarus, the lowest part of the Underworld. He thinks he knows who it is: a reformed Titan named Bob whom Percy and Annabeth had to leave behind when they escaped Hades's realm. Nico's dreams and Rachel Dare's latest prophecy leave little doubt in Nico's mind that Bob is in some kind of trouble. Nico has to go on this quest, whether Mr. D and Chiron like it or not. And of course Will insists on coming with. But can a being made of light survive in the darkest part of the world? And what does the prophecy mean that Nico will have to "leave something of equal value behind?"

Nico will have to face demons both internal and external as his relationship with Will is tested to the core in this standalone adventure featuring two of the most popular characters in the Percy Jackson saga. Inclusive & Healing❤️

I think I’m one of many who grew up with Nico as a favorite character and when I found out about this new book I was beyond excited.

Before I started I thought it was going to have a few cute parts of their relationship and I was pleasantly surprised with the deeper dive into what it’s like being apart of the LGBTQIA+ community, which was perfectly balanced with the action portion.

I have so much respect for Rick and Mark for telling such an openly inclusive story. (Especially the part with Piper).

It definitely made my inner child happy to listen to my favorite character from my childhood get his happy ending, especially growing up healing from trauma and learning to have courage to be myself.

Thank you Rick and Mark <3

We need more queer centered fiction stories.

We need more queer centered fiction stories. I love how this story involves queer characters whose journey is more than just a coming out story or oppression story. This one involve characters who are queer finding themselves in a hero’s journey and being the hero’s with swords and magic that I always wanted to see.

Why is uncle Rick so good

It just impossible for his books to be so good but I don’t think he should have introduced lgbtq to kids it’s not appropriate

Good story

I loved diving back into Percy Jackson’s world. All the characters have become like family after all these years. I wish it was a longer book! And while I understand the importance of the storyline I do wish the book was a bit less about romance/relationships. I believe Nico deserved happiness all on his own, not because Will brought him to the light.

You could definitely tell there was two writers and it was not a Rick original….

My biggest complaint is the narrator….
The voices all sounded way too much alike and when the characters should be SHOUTING he’d whisper the words in an aggressive fashion.

Great book, does nobody edit these readers?

The book was amazing and full of heart. I love having queer stories that don't end in heartache. Getting to hear all about Nico and Will's relationship was heartwarming and the story was full of fun adventure. But I can't get over the narrator mispronouncing words all over the place. Does nobody produce these? At one point he pronounced coifed so badly it took me out of the entire story.

The amazing way Nico and Will’s relationship was portrayed

Beautiful beautiful amazing great sad the only thing is SPOILERS in chapter 42 Nico says “My mother is Bianca di Angelo, she loved me and my sister.” Last time I checked Nico you’re mother was Maria di Angelo it even says it in the next chapter. But still beautiful say made me feel all the feels
