About this listen

J.A., Roger's novel, first published in 1917 is a polemic against the ignorance behind racism. The plot is based around a debate between a Pullman porter and a racist politician. The author deals with racism and bigotry in an exemplary way.

Written with sincere compassion for America

Although this work written from many years as both a observer of people from the vantage point of a Pullman Porter in the early 1900’s and a black man in search of addressing the injustices this country has inflicted on black people. J.A. Rogers careful analysis of the race relations and his recommendations for addressing these injustices fall on death ears to the barbaric white man as evidenced from 1917 to today.

It's been more than forty years since I first read/hear and very pleased it's was better the second time around. A Fiction that reads like nonfiction in historical facts and references.

Great book but...

As a Moorish American the negro or black is still used to represent us even after this book intelligently disputes any individuals being addressed as a color. Why do we need to go back to Africa when we never left at one time all continents were connected. The Louisiana Purchase came after the European so called discovered a new world. So the land had a name and occupants prior to any of these events.

Truth vs Lies

This is a book that everyone should read. This book reaches to the core of the matter separating truth from lies cuts so deep as to separate the bone from the marrow.
